Well, the The Rockets bet on the Suns folding at some point, which is why they didn't offer Jabari Smith, another 1st round pick or even Cam Whitmore and basically forced the Suns to take on Jalen Green. Being patient paid off in the Rockets case and they still have all of their young players to offer in separate trades.

Good for Houston. They got KD for a short-term upgrade without significantly limiting their long-term core.

Green has to be going to a 3rd team though. Otherwise that's even worse roster construction then before for Phoenix.

Green + 10 for Claxton + 26, 27? I think it would take something like that for BK to make the swap.

Maybe something with Utah for a Sexton/Collins return?

Surprised PHX accepted this mediocre of a return.

Phx needed to find a 3rd team for Green here or have Booker deal set up.

If they pay 83 million to Green and Beal next year on a team who's best player is a different SG lmao!
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

The Suns basically had no leverage. Other teams weren't stepping up their offers and none of the other trade packages were offering the Suns a starting a starting level Center, along with assets. The Rockets bet on the Suns folding on their asking price and won .

If Green is indeed flipped for positive value, I'd like to change my imaginary vote for the loser of this deal to be that receiving team.

HOU will be a menace next year. How does PHX salvage their future?

this feels like a landmine Charlotte would walk into, i am scared

Brooks too for that matter, given Jeff Peterson's borderline sexual attraction to hustle guys that are terrible offensive players most of the time

I like it for Phoenix...we knew KD had not great trade value. Would have been an amazing trade if they were able to get a Phoenix pick back but it's still fine.

Jalen Green + 10th pick for Nic Claxton + 19th pick +36th pick?

The Nets get multiples picks in the mid lottery range and take a chance on Jalen Green.

The Suns get a starting level Center, cutting even more salary by moving Jalen Green and have multiple picks in the 19-40 range.

Calling this "bad" for Phoenix assumes far too much about what Durant "should" have been "worth." He's been publicly on the market for... weeks? Months? Now, I think it's perfectly fair to say Phoenix shouldn't have moved him at all if this was the return (especially if they can't flip Green), but they clearly wanted to turn the page and got what they could. Great job by Houston to not cave and add more than necessary. Brooks had a charmed season and Green is not worth his contract -- both were unlikely to be highly positive over the rest of their deals.

Feels like PHX should have held out until the draft as I doubt this offer would have gone anywhere, but I think they wanted to get it done before Game 7 in hopes that the NBA finals helps bury some of the headlines on their return.

I'm very happy to dump Jalen, Brooks and #10 is a tough swallow. Scared about a potential extension, hope we don't guarantee any money past 1 additional year.

How’s this trade legal the Suns can’t aggregate

They didn't trade multiple players to get a larger salary

well I guess Phoenix isn't trading Booker if they took #10 instead of their picks back.
