Read it again.

Nah, you're wrong.

Start with Porzingis. His value was what the team receiving him gave up.

Mann/Niang/#22

Boston didn't want to pay Mann, and sent #22 with him to Brooklyn in order to dump him.

Net result is the same. The 22 was an accumulated dump of Mann + value of Porzingis. My read was that the value is mostly on dumping Mann, since I don't value Porzingis, but the Hawks obviously felt differently.

I'm going to help narrow it down. They will not get a superstar for those 5 picks.

Hawks are getting a 2nd assuming this draft? Could be more like they traded back but pretty sure they valued Porzingis as well.

Charlotte lol

4?

What about 3?

Seems the Sixers have a thin roster given monster deals to Embiid, Paul George, and Maxey.

Nets gunning for Ace or Fears?

More likely they package and try to move up.

As for the deal ... Boston basically just dumped Porzingis. Tells you where his value is at (oof). Although I like Niang.

Hawks really betting on health here.

Nope. Just the 2nd apron.

From the way the value works out, it looks like the deal was Porzingis for Mann/Niang/#22 from Atlanta. Boston then used #22 to entice the Nets to use their trade exception to take Mann before the fiscal end of the 2024-25 season, thus saving the Celtics a ton of tax money (and getting them out of the 2nd apron).

Cap space is expensive in the modern CBA. Bad contracts for different bad contracts is a lot cheaper.

What team really wants to bring in multiple late first round rookies in exchange for their superstar? I'd wager they trade at least one of them for picks in subsequent years and maybe a small additional asset.

We've obviously had the Niang/Mann part for a while. I'm a little surprised ATL had to throw in 22 without at least getting Hauser too. But, I'll take it. I was wondering what to do with Mann in this scenario - even started the "What's the deal, Mann?" thread. But, I guess this is the answer.

Overall, works out for BOS. Details on the 2nds would be nice.

I kind of like it for Atlanta. A meh first two turn Niang and Mann into Porzingis is a solid risk for them.

This is for apron for 25-26, the 24-25 apron/tax calculation is set already after end of regular season i believe

Wait, so you're saying BOS got out of the 24-25 2nd apron as well? That's huge, if so.

EDIT: nvm, godaddy answered. I thought what he said was the case.

I agree. For this price, I don’t really see any risk for Atlanta. KP missed most of the games he missed this year because of illness, not injury. These are the types of moves teams like Atlanta should make to improve their ceiling substantially.

Wow. I guess that’s done.
Strong value for Porzingis.
I wouldn’t have dumped Mann if I was the Celtics but it’s not my money.
Nice use of space by the Nets.
Jordan Walsh goes top 10 in a 2023 redraft.

Hornets fans are among our most optimistic despite a franchise that has given them basically zero reason to be. Charlotte must be a hell of a place to live.

I wonder if the Nets could use the 27th to trade Mann for an expiring contract...for example something like..Mann+27 for Maxi/Milton
Old Mike Lorenzo
