4 years to 32-year old DFS to shoot 36% on open kickout threes.

DFS was good on the Lakers but also not as impactful as you would want. His ability to defend guards well has gone. Still a great defender on big wings.

Sign and trade will still give them MLE i believe. Maybe they can grab cam.

What would Lakers get for SnT?

I hope those who only post negative one liners will choose to desist during this busy time period. So please don't engage. If we have repeat offenders, I will see to it they don't ruin the day, but really would prefer to not have to.

The Lakers gave up 3 second round picks for a 6 month rental.

The Rockets find their Dillon Brooks replacement. Very deep with KD.

Last year is a non guaranteed player option, great deal imo but big bet on the younger guys to take a step up in the creation department

If LA had the option to pay him near that amount I don't get letting him go (of course he might've just wanted to move back to Texas).

Texas no tax state. Lakers would had to pay him something like 4/66 just to match post tax income

That number seems way high? State income is only like 12%, and I believe it's only for the home games.

I was more guessing.

Think Cali up to 14 plus percent now. And any thing earned over a million has another 1 percent tax. 1 percent higher sales taxes. You at about 16 percent before you factor in cost of living differences

But only one poster who immediately understood that I was referring to them. I get this is your schtick, but I'm asking nicely for a bit of respect to not derail every thread with reductive posts if we could.

WE are about to have months where you can chase And-1's with this kind of posting.

Trade exception only thing. Hold it for a year in case a deal come your way

Ok I'll make sure to stay on topic and post about the topic of the thread, which as far as I know is DFS signing a 4-year deal at age 32. I wouldn't want the thread derailed.

https://atr.org/decision-nbas-dwight-howard-chooses-state-a7739/

Plenty accounting blogs broke down Dwight Howard decision to leave lakers. Roughly 20 more a year in Houston signing a smaller annual deal there.

Too say that doesn’t factor in for some roles players is naive imo.

PO and trade kicker..
Rockets really wanted it.

I actually wonder if Rockets are going to trade Tari Eason now. Seemed like they were desperate for a player they already have.

The player option is non guaranteed apparently, mutual option basically

Yeah agreed. They need Sheppard to step up big time (and to a lesser extent Amen, he already took a pretty big step up).

Part of me wonders if this is more about long range planning - i.e., they know they can't afford to keep both Jabari and Eason (in addition to Amen, Sengun, extending KD, etc.) long-term and are securing an in-house backup for when they have to move one of them.

Houston prioritizing value over traditional fit.

Seems like we are leaning into swing men and plan on running 3s as 2s, 4s as 3s, etc.

Not sure how it all works out, but things could be worse.

Durant and Eason extensions remain unresolved.

25m x 5 for Eason
30m x 3 for Durant

Those are my predictions.

Definitely seem like a one year audition or some of the younger rockets. See how they mesh with KD and make a roster decision next summer

DFS struggled on guards. But Amen and Tari can guard them.
