Ayo Dosunmu

I like him, but he's pretty limited offensively right? I do like the fit otherwise

He has scaled up rather well when given the chance to start. He isn't Kobe or anything, but he could average 15/4/5 on really good efficiency. I'm probably the #1 Ayo enjoyer, though, I think that he's worth quite a bit more than Naji (which is probably wrong, it is likely a difference of a 2nd or two at most).

Was specifically looking for a 1 for 1 swap. Monk makes more than all 3 guys combined and the market has shown his prototype just isn't worth that salary.

The money works. Monk makes the Mav’s better. So there’s that.

Not really, with the hard cap at the 2nd apron that Dallas is operating under. They'd be less than $1.5m from that hard cap, and need to fill a 14th spot. Not sure they want to run into the season unable to fill a 15th roster spot again, like they had trouble doing after the trade deadline last year.

I don’t disagree with trading Naji for a guard upgrade. You have to have faith in Flagg and Caleb is a fine enough 4th forward..

But I don’t really agree with the need for it to be 1 for 1. The guards that Naji is A) worth and B) makes more than.. are not going to be much better than the Klay/Christie/Exum group, if at all..

If Dallas is moving Naji, it should be willing to stack contracts and maybe even add assets to improve the team. If not, just trade Naji for a couple seconds and hope to improve the team next season via trade. I don’t see the jump from Christie/DLO to Ayo/Josh Green being worth losing Naji’s minutes behind Flagg?

They can do 3 for 1, but leave room below the Apron...

DAL receives: Divincenzo
MIN receives: Marshall

DAL gets a high volume shooter that is a decent defender and can also handle the ball.

MIN gets a guy that is a very different mold but can be their 6th man and creator off the bench. This also dips them right below the 1st apron.

Yeah, was more talking about the post ITT about 1/1. I don’t see the 1/1 target that makes sense, considering the team has Klay/Christie around. Downgrade backup forward to add another JAG to the guard mess Dallas has.

The thread in general makes sense to me though.. I probably go further than most Dallas fans, but I’d lose Klay and Naji (and whatever other salary) for.. Monk, Simons, Vassell, KCP, Grayson, CJM… some less exciting than others, but probably a few others I didn’t think of that I’ve posted too many times.

I think this is about right, MIN gets a little savings, and a chance at tad of upside
Dallas gets the better player

MIN can't give up DDV after losing NAW.

Yea I like the DDV fit, but MInny is thin on guards so I cant see them pulling the trigger

Thanks! Yes this is a swap I'd do for Dallas, though I'd imagine Chi would want to keep the guard since they have two young forwards they recently drafted

I think Christie and D-Low IQ (as much as I dislike him) are both better than Green. S I wouldn't consider getting Green a leap, more like something in between a trip and a bungee jump.

ANd my hope is that Kidd has enough clout with AD to convince him that the center is his best position and whats best for the team, with D-Live backing him up. Then trade Gaff for a guy like Toppin who will cover those backup 4 minutes and even small ball 5 when the 2 are inevitably out for injury.

I'd pass on these. Lonzo is good but just adds to Dallas' list of unreliable players due to injury concerns, and Naji is just much better than Sam

Travers is on a two-way and can't be traded. The Cavs are over the second apron and can't aggregate. With both Strus and Garland out, the Cavs would have to wait.

You're worried about spacing, but Niko just wants to know if DDR has the Mamba Mentality... spoiler alert... he does!

I think Ayo takes a big step forward this season.
