They have capspace to bring in a max player in 2026 offseason and Giannis can be traded for with Claxton+rookies+FRPs.

Brooklyn is still New York

Maybe that's why they've ended up keeping Claxton, did any team try to get Claxton or was the asking price too much? they could also try and get Trae Young as well if Hawks don't extend him, which why I never commented the above, as not sure if they're willing to extend Young or not?

I think the Hawks are wanting to keep Trae, but I also feel that they don't want to pay him a full on max deal.

I think Porzingis will be a target too. Giannis and KP have wanted to team up and they'd be a good fit.

MPJ, Giannis, KP

So yeah the max slot could go to Trae, they'd want a strong defender at the 2.

Have we seen a star traded for real value? They mostly go where they want for a discounted price. Partly bc they don’t get traded under good circumstances. Only player they got real value in my weak memory is PG13. And that’s mostly hindsight value with Shai becoming a star.

Think this a big market that gives him the best chance of winning scenario instead of a scenario where you getting max value

The Bucks aren't just going to give Giannis away to a big market because he wants to try and win there and as a sign of good will. The franchise has done everything he has ever asked and then some, they've made MASSIVE trades to acquire all-stars/superstars to attempt to contend with Giannis that most big markets aren't even able to get done in these types of situations. Milwaukee has done more than right by Giannis, and in doing so has given up their entire future. As a franchise they flat out do not have the option to just bottom out and tank like other franchises that have gotten rid of their superstar, it just isn't remotely a possibility. On top of that, Giannis is levels above the other superstars that have gotten traded in the past decade plus, they flat out are not on the same tier as he is. He is an active MVP candidate who is top 20 all time if he retired today. Comparing what guys like Paul George or even AD fetched isn't accurate to what the true market for Giannis is, in their prime MVPs flat out do not become available, any offer for him is going to be looked at as a massive overpay by probably 90% of this forum...but the reality will be that whatever the package is will still be an underpayment by whoever acquires Giannis.

Outside of Giannis demand trade to NY, I see two primary trades…

1) Celtics
This is NY-lite: on East coast - for quicker trips to Greece, weaker Eastern conference, and Celtics have assets to acquire Giannis - assuming locked-in Tatum to 3rd team for assets Bucks want. Giannis in Boston 25/26 season is instant title favorites year one.

2) Magic
On East coast, weaker Eastern conference, and roster around Giannis is best fit in entire NBA - assuming Banchero is centerpiece of trade. Problem with Magic is Banchero, his PPP, but also Giannis flight risk makes trading a young budding superstar tough pill to swallow for Orlando.

Lakers: not enough assets.
Same for Clippers, Warriors, and other west coast teams.
Spurs and Rockets have assets but not a Giannis destination which escalates the flight risk and lessen the assets willing to push in middle of Giannis trade.

I just don't see Giannis having any interest playing for either of those teams.

Dame only wanted to play in Miami. Butler only wanted to play in Phoenix. Neither got their wish. The Bucks will work with him, but they're not going to take a bad offer, and once that becomes clear, lists have a way of expanding.

Dame had a long term contract and minimal leverage. Giannis does have a similar length contract, and is a similar age, but he's a guy who brought the Bucks a title. If he asks for a trade respectfully they'll honour it to a degree. He can bring more pressure to bear than Dame.

Butler wanted Phoenix, and 'settled' for the even more lucrative Golden State. He's not a good example for you.

I have said many times, I don't actually think Giannis is asking out... but if he does, he's going to a team he wants. He won't be able to provide a 1 team list, Dame & Butler couldn't either, but the place he goes to is going to be one he's comfortable with. He's never choosing Portland.

When he is traded will dictate a lot. A trade right now means 2x years control. A trade right now doesn’t seem likely. Bucks seem ready to ride out the year with Giannis. So…

A trade next offseason means one year team control. That really limits teams to who Giannis wants and will re-sign.

From the player's perspective? It's freezing cold, in the middle of nowhere, with minimal night life and big market opportunities. It's probably one of the top 10 least desirable cities for to live in, judged by the standards of the average player.

He lives in Milwaukee because he was drafted there, and because Euro guys tend to be pretty loyal. I'm sure it wouldn't have been his first choice, which is why that now that he's considering leaving he's been rumoured to be interested in one of the marquee destinations that players actually do choose. Not Portland.

Excuse me, alot of untenable cities are getting brought up so I went with the main one I was criticising.

Boston isn't liked by most players because it's cold and has a troubling history with minorities, which some players continue to cite to this day. In Giannis case they were also a rival l, don't have the scratch, and just started cost cutting so can't even afford him.

Orlando? Well, they used to be seen as an intriguing destination; warm weather and no taxes. I'd say they'd be in the top half of destination cities. The thing is Giannis list, if he demands a trade, is going to be like 5-7 teams tops. It's not so much that players hate Orlando, it's just not going to make the cut.

Giannis list is going to look like most stars; one of the LA/NY teams, Golden State, and maybe Miami (now that Butler is gone it probably won't feel so weird). Then he'll add a few more realistic teams like Houston & SA (warm weather, no taxes, amd good situations for him to win), and that'll probably be it.

Bucks can watch him leave in FA. Sure but a small market has no incentive to give an all in offer just to bail the bucks out.

Real value or true value. This board firmly said lakers underpaid believing other teams had better offers.

Luka wasn’t traded for true value.

The idea stars get traded for 3 to 5 first rounders rarely happens.

In addition to the examples I already cited, Mitchell, Gobert, and even Bridges all returned that. I'd argue it's pretty much the market unless it's an older star attached to a contract that they might not be worth in the end or there's other baggage like Kyrie and Butler.

There's no chance the Bucks sell low on Giannis.
