Cody’s 4th year option hasn’t been acted upon yet (deadline is 10/31 I believe), so he’s not guaranteed for next season yet.

Then it is weird they chose him over Konchar.
Defense wins draft lotteries!
Fortune favours the bold, so it ducked Nico Harrison.

I completely agree. But, maybe just a choice of a forward over another guard? Youth and “potential” over a sure thing? Surely they’ll decline his 4th year option, though.

To Cody's credit, he is a good individual defender, his body has improved dramatically, and he is a reasonable connective piece with his passing. If the shot ever became even acceptable - like 30 percent from 3 - he would be pretty usable. But I have no faith in his ability to do that. He needs to totally scrap his form.

Yeah the Wolves need a forward not another guard. The talent difference isn’t large enough to make up for that fact.

This looks like a good move to get Williams for Green.

I don’t think so. Williams has no legit basketball skills. He has good size and athleticism but he can’t really do anything else. I’d be surprised if we pick up the last year of his rookie deal.

I wonder if he's a guy who looks better as a connective player on a good team, rather than a team of guys playing for individual stats because the organization doesn't care about winning games.

Seems like he showed a bunch of flashes from January on. I think playing alongside LaMelo Ball and learning from Jaden McDaniels, he could continue that upward projection.

I'm not really expecting anything necessarily, but I think the tools he has at least can give him an opportunity for growth and development.

I don't really think our team was playing for individual stats or that Cody flashed anything of substance. I also think Minnesota will have a problem with floor spacing now that will make Cody completely unplayable for them. (EDIT: but I do hope this is not the case, Cody is pretty likeable).

I can agree somewhat on Williams he's a youngster and if he can develop a shot could become a decent player. IDK id Green is worth his contract. Green has a better 3 point shot and may just need more playing time. But at $14 million seems expensive for a bench player.

Green isn't worth his contract. Neither are Williams or Konchar. Difference is, of the three, Williams is the only one without the skills to be a rotation level player. He is one of the 4 or 5 worst players I have seen wear a Jazz uniform in the last 20 years. I think the only clearly worse players are Jason Hart, Milt Palacio, Ben Handlogden, and Raja Bell during his second stint.

Green earned the nickname "Cardio" on a group chat I'm in for his tendency to run around a ton and accomplish basically nothing on the floor. Minnesota did well to cut his contract roughly in half.

Have you seen much if any development or is he pretty much a lost cause in your opinion?

I don't think he is a totally lost cause, but he has to totally rebuild his jumper. Aggressiveness when driving and physicality increased a lot last year which helped a lot in terms of him having some moments where he looks the part of an NBA player. Realistically a team could do a lot worse for a two-way, but he is an end of the bench guy and he didn't rebuild his jumper over the off-season so he is at least a year from providing any positive offensive impact. Defensively he is good but not great, but has the tools to be impactful there.

Josh Green is a great role player. Impact player on defense and only takes shots he can hit (.644 true shooting). Shot 42% from 3 last year.

Terrible move by the Wolves.

Money savings was the goal. Green was being traded no matter what.

Green is like the modern-day Ryan Gomes. Solid but unspectacular.

Minnesota ducked the 2nd Apron and picked up a higher variance player.

The trade needs to be looked at as Green for Kuminga, Konchar and Williams. in that context it makes sense

solid is an enormous stretch

with the right setup, you can survive his minutes. if you don't have several scorers on the floor with him, he is an abject liability on offense. His defense is fine, not great.

So, I am confused. Gobobs said:
