I wouldn't even do that deal for a constantly pained T Mac. Most I would give is Rip, Brezec, Murray, Hayes. Let Hermann take over Hayes role, done.

Houston would have to cut 3 players and Mr. D may have to pay some lux tax though.

I'm glad you clarified your stance. From your previous comment, I thought you were saying that Battier, Scola and a 1st weren't ENOUGH to get Bibby.

The original T-Mac-for-Hamilton deal (WITH Stuckey) is fair, but neither team really benefits. Rip is at his best with a great set-up man. To put it nicely, Refer juuuuuuust misses the cut in that regard. McGrady prefers to dominate the ball, which would not work well for Chauncey.

But he's never healthy.

A few months ago I may have considered this, but the window to trade for Tmac has passed. Dice has surpassed expectations for the season and Rip has really started to get it going and the Pistons are surging. Stuckey never would have even been in the discussion to begin with.

This is an EASY pass for Detroit. The most I'd give up for Tmac right now would be Rip, expirings and a future 1st. Not saying I'd expect the Rockets to go for that (and I wouldn't), but anything more and it's just not worth it for Detroit.

The primary issue with this deal is that it values T-Mac as though he is an elite player.

Factor in the injuries and the fact that the guy has never won a playoff series, then add in the salary he currently makes and will demand in the future, and valuewise he is not anywhere near elite level. You say we have to give to get, but what we are getting is a guarentee of future disappointments, while we give an all star level shooting guard, a solid power forward, and a great young prospect.

Its not even close. You cant increase the value of a player who's never healthy by telling us how good he'd be if he was healthy. It doesnt work that way.

The Pistons are interested in winning, and this hurts them present and future.

Well, that about sums it up.

One last thing, just pretending this deal wasnt based on a flawed premise from the start, why is it the Pistons adding Stuckey in the modified deal to make the Rockets bite when its the Kings asset (Bibby) being overated in the deal? Shouldnt it be the Kings sweetening the pot?

TMac in his prime only bagged Francis, Mobley, and Kato. And

Rip > Francis (even back then)
Dyess > Mobley
Stuckey >>>>> Kato -- (tradevalue-wise)

Now TMac can't even seem to play more than 5 games in a row.

Back then Francis was better than Rip and a lot more valuable. Francis back then was like Paul or Williams now, he put up 20+ ppg and 7-8 apg, and he was the #1 guy on the Rockets as Yao was nowhere near what he is now.

Also Mobley back then >McDyess now. Mobley was the #2 guy on the Rockets putting up about 16 a game , Dyess is 10 and 8 now which is pretty average for a starting PF but at this stage he's a rental and those numbers will continue to go down.

But yeah, I guess I do look at Tmac differently than what he is viewed by others.
