he better be putting up career stats at this age. Would you not prefer 2 first rounders and a guy putting up comparable stats and defense three years younger?

To my understanding there is ONE protected pick from 2009 and 3 players inferior to Salmons... *There's no one putting comparable stats like Salmons that is going to the Kings*

Again, Kings are NOT trading Salmons...He is worth EVERY penny of his contract...

I can see the Kings trading Salmons for prospects and draft picks. This package is nowhere close enough for the Kings to accept though.

There would be two draft picks on from Houston and one from Toronto.

If everyone was offering players that are not worth their contract, no one would be trading... Im not saying Salmons is not worth his contract. There are players getting paid twice as much as him putting up similar statistics. But Delfino plays 10 less minutes then Salmons. If we were to check thier per 40 minutes statistics:

Delfino is averaging 4 lets points per game. but is averaging more then 2 rebounds per game. Salmons hands out an extra assist, but also losses the ball an extra time. Their effective Field goal percentage is at 49 and 53 percent. Steals and blocks are a wash. Salmons is the better player but he is also in his prime.

Using Per40 is ok sometimes but not in this situation...Due to the manipulative stats... Delfino will not be a starter in this team...He will play behind Kevin Martin, Cicso, Artest, and etc... Delfino is nice but does not warrant a player like Salmons...

We are not trading Salmons because he is important to us...

I dont understand your point here, you argue that Delfino is better or equal to Salmons by using Per 40 stats, then at the end say Salmons is the better player. Its not even Salmons>Delfino its Salmons>>>>>>Delfino.

This proposal makes no sense, IMO SAC-town is more than happy to keep Salmons, especially with his production numbers.

I could see the Raps taking on Battier for his better defense. They give up Parker's better ball-handling skills for a player who's got a longer term contract, that has more size and that plays better defense. Unless it is really important for Bryen Colangelo to have a lot of cap space in the 09 off-season, I could see them taking Battier.

Nevertheless, it all comes down to SAC-town and I don't see a reason why they should trade Salmons, especially in a deal like this.

Its pretty obvious what GMs think of these 2 around the league. Delfino was given away by Detroit to the Raptors and replaced by Hayes who was given away by the Wizards. While on the other hand, Salmons was offered MLE contracts by the Raptors,Suns and Kings.

On the offensive side, Salmons is the superior player. He's the better penetrator and playmaker, better finisher, better shooter, and overall is just more of a mismatch then Delfino. He's too quick for the bigger wings, and too long for the smaller ones.

The defensive side isn't even comparible IMO. Salmons is a very good on ball defender with his quickness and length, Salmons is also better off the ball.

If Delfino is so good why is Anthony Parker starting over him? Why did the Pistons trade him for nothing?

Dampier was given that fun contract, Miller was given that fun contract, Thomas was offered that fun contract, Brian Cardinal was offered the MLE. Do you know what the GM's where thinking? By your knowledge, what do you think Delfino will be offered in the off season? If Delfino is so bad, why are their numbers so comparable, with even minutes, with the exception of percentages which is not that off either. Delfino is a very capable defender and plays almost the same amount of minutes as Parker..

Your logic is flawed. Salmons is putting up 16 points on 50% FG which is well worth the MLE if not more. Delfino is not getting an MLE contract this offseason. I never said Delfino was bad, just that he's not in the same league as Salmons which he is not. And since when is Delfino's 9.2 points on a horrible 39% FG and 66% FT comparable to Salmons 16.7 points on 50% FG and 81% FT?

Toronto does not trade picks for a veteran at this point, especially when we have a slightly older version of Battier already on the team in Anthony Parker

A big difference is that Delfino is basically a complementary player while Salmons has often been the centerpiece of the team this year.
