Kemba for Horford: your take?

Walker, Taxes Danger: Boston wins, shedding salary (and possible luxury tax impact) on a player who didn't fit well, and getting back a player who has.

Talk the Talk, Walk the Walker: OKC wins, doing right by Horford and getting another 1st rounder.

Sky-Walker: both teams win. Boston saves money for a better fit, OKC just keeps on banking assets.

Dead Man Walker: both teams lose. Boston is now down yet another asset for a short-term gain at best, and OKC now has to make *another* trade to undo the effect of this one for a middling pick they didn't even need.

OKC was clearly tanking and force feeding minutes for the younger ones. For brown Celtic career I don’t believe he will start with the same opportunities ( extended minutes that he may not have earned nor an average of 5 field goal attempt a game)

He’s still worth developing though.

Well yeah but he was still doing that production against good NBA level competition.

And he's the Celtics 3rd string center, so it's not like we're banking on him being a starter.

I first thought that this deal came from the fake woj account. Great deal by the Celtics. The received nothing of value but only had to give one pick to move Walker? Great deal for the Celtics for sure.

A big man who's above average defensively, above average outside shooter and above average passer who has great chemistry built with brown, Tatum, smart from his previous stint with the team and a 21 year old big who's 7'2" and a solid rim runner, rebounder, rim protector with good athleticism who is a bargain at only $1.7 mil a year - those are 2 decent pieces..you combine those 2 pieces with robert williams hopefully will be injury free after a longer offseason of rest + treatment) and you have a solid front court.

Yea if you valuing him as a 3rd string center he’s good enough for that for now with room to get better but had seen some others comment saying he’s essentially worth the 16th pick . That pick is probably for the salary flexibility plus a better fitting player in Horford against kemba for you guys .

Not sure how translatable his production will be on a good team but hope we can see it this upcoming season

I mean Kai Jones probably has a higher ceiling than Moses Brown but:

a) Kai might be gone in the first 15 picks
b) Kai only has a slightly higher ceiling than Moses Brown
c) Brown is 21 and has 2 years of nba experience under his belt. jones is 20, has only been playing basketball since age 15 and has 0 yrs of nba experience under his belt. if celtics were in rebuilding mode they want the pick, but celtics are looking to seriously contend within the next couple yrs so makes more sense to take the guy who's closer to being a contributor and is less raw, less of a project like Kai and Garuba are
d) the 16th pick will make $4 mil a year. Brown only makes $1.7 mil a year so we save $2.7 mi. That plus the $9 mil we're saving by trading walker for horford allows us to resign fournier and/or make other moves..

Yea that 9m helps a lot in terms of putting a better product on the floor.
