No chance unless Minny gives up every pick and swap possible and a third team sends win now pieces.

Re: Getting Simmons to the Wolves Without Giving Up KAT/DLo/Edwards
It's a tricky situation because Simmons while an all-star is still only Philly's second best player and they have no interest in rebuilding while having Embiid on the team.
Philly wants a trade that makes them better now - picks or young players with potential do nothing for them. You never know with Embiids health, you can't kick the can in hopes of getting a great young talent in 2023. You need to be good in 2021.
And therein lies the problem which makes Minnesota and Philadelphia bad trade partners.

Ill assume Beverly/Beasley/McDaniels/2023 1st/2025 1st/2027 1st are assets on the table for Minny to complete a deal.
Basically Minny needs a third team willing to take the draft haul and give a win now all star caliber player and doesn’t want Simmons. Good luck with that.

Wolves get their guy, go all in
Bulls get some depth for Lauri-we might have to move CWhite somewhere to stay out of the tax
Sixers get Lauri at the 4, Beasley as a great shooter, McDaniels shows a lot of promise and is cheap-plus 2 unprotected 1sts from Minny to play with
Not sure on how the sign and trade rules work
The BOLD is bad team management. If Your plan is to get Prince for a year at $13M and it makes you have to trade last year's starting PG on a rookie contract, whether he is a full fledged PG or not good enough to be a SG and is even an average Combo guard, you made a lousy deal. Getting rid if Lauri is one thing, getting Vanderbuilt might be a good move but to give up Coby for money considerations and a 2nd is hardly smart
There isn't much talk of PHI being interested in Markkanen, they've got Harris playing the 4 and several role players behind him. They just resigned Green and have Thybulle at the 3.
More likely to me is MINN ending up with Lauri ans Simmons sending Beverley to PHIL along with Beasley and McDaniel and some picks. The Bulls getting Vanderbuilt and Layman from MINN and maybe Paul Reed from PHIL
Phil gets a veteran PG, a PF who can get minutes and another SG/SF
MINN gets a stretch 4, Russell resumes being the PG next to Edwards, they keep Prince as an Okogie backup
CHI gets a pair of young PFs to compete for the backup role going forward and a backup SF, nobody is signed long term or very expensive to complete the roster

You might not like Simmons but it appears that the Wolves management does.
I didn't say I don't like him, he is flawed and overpaid, but I am open to eating his contract in the right circumstances. I would assume wolves management is of the same mindset.
Bad assumption. You’re not eating his contract, you’re acquiring an asset. And Minnesota management knows this.

If you’re going to build an offer around Hayward/picks for Simmons, I don’t think you can so heavily protect the picks and either guarantee they’re lesser value, or they even push out too far and never get conveyed (or rights relinquished). You’d realistically have to unprotect some of those picks, or at most, top 1 protect them, to get anywhere near a reasonable offer.

Ya this is awful for Indiana. If they would ever consider this the Kings just cut everyone out and go get Turner for themselves (though they would never consider this lol)
Portland turns CJ to Edwards/Turner? Thats insanity lol

The other way to look at it would be if MN is subsiding a "star" to Philly, why wouldn't MN take that player? If MN is giving up a draft haul that player is probably better than Simmons.
And I don't think a team trading their star would want Simmons back if they can help it. Simmons isn't an easy (or wise) player to build around.

Re: What team is giving up win-now player to help Wolves/Sixers Simmons deal
The prerequisite of a team giving up a win-now player in a Minnesota deal is that the team has to a) not want Ben Simmons themselves, i.e. they're not in win-now mode, and b) they have to have a win-now player to send out.
I don't think anyone in the OP's poll wants to be a losing team next year so they aren't going to take a pile of picks. All those teams are offering those guys to get Simmons back, not help him go to Minnesota.
Minnesota is honestly looking at Orlando, Houston, Cleveland, OKC, Detroit. Possibly the Spurs, Grizzlies, Pacers. Only Portland or Washington if they're doing full teardowns. The list of useful win-now pieces that might be available are guys like Isaac, Wood, Sexton, SGA, Grant (possibly Murray, Brooks, LaVert). Some of those guys are going to be too expensive to pry away, most of those guys aren't going to move the needle for Philly.

Not much of an asset if teams don't really want his contract...

I would love Lauri. To replace Tobias. Any ideas on that deal?

Philly technically gets their asking price of a young all-star and bunch of firsts.
Minny goes in on Simmons.
Kings move parts for a big contract and upgrade.
sacramento get cut out. Harris/mcdaniels help them win more than buddy/bags/protected 1st

The Cavs were never trying to trade Sexton just to get rid of him and although I like Mcdaniels this is laughable value for Sexton let alone LNJ seemingly getting the Cavs nothing in return.
hard pass
I see it Beasley has more value than LNJ.
And McDaniels + 2nds + Beasley > LNJ as fair value.

Yes that was the overall premise to posting this poll. What rebuilding team would take the Wolves package, give up a win now player and not want Ben Simmons?
I think Beal is the realistic option with McCollum having some potential depending on where Blazers are at around trade deadline:
To Washington
-Beasley
-Beverly
-2022 Sixers 1st
-2023 Wolves 1st
-2024 Sixers 1st
-2025 Wolves 1st
-2027 Wolves 1st
To Minnesota
-Simmons
To Philly
-Beal

Since all 8 threads in a row around this one are Ben Simmons threads, this containment thread is both badly needed and not yet working.

So Philly gets more for Simmons than Rockets for Harden? Got it.

Can Memphis assemble a decent offer?
I wonder whether JJJ must be included OR the following offer might draw 76s attention, too?
Anderson
Melton/Brooks
Bane
Clarke
1st 2022 via Lakers
1st 2022 via Utah
1st 2023
1st 2025
fillers-expirings (Rondo, Jones, or Juancho)

This benefits the Knicks as it guarantees a pick this year, and Charlotte so they can free up their other picks.
Part 2:
Charlotte trades: Gordon Hayward, Jalen McDaniels, Vernon Carey, 2022 NOLA 1st (lotto prot), 2023 CHA 1st (rights to swap), 2024 CHA 1st (top 5 prot, otherwise 2nd), 2025 CHA 1st (rights to swap), 2026 CHA 1st (top 5 prot until 2028, otherwise 2nd)
Philly trades: Ben Simmons
Philly creates a much better perimeter-oriented lineup around Embiid, and gives them more trade ammunition to go after someone like Beal or Lillard during the season. Before any other trade, their lineup is Embiid/Harris/Hayward/Green/one of Maxey/Milton/Curry with a deep bench as well as a few extra prospects to develop or send out to the team trading a star guard.
Charlotte, still ignoring all centers worth a damn, just decide to play small and add Simmons as its "big man". He's a transformative defender and adds playmkaing that was lost and not replaced in the offseason (Graham/Monk). Simmons also fits the timeline as a 25-year-old who is right in the middle of the average age of the rotation. Ball/Rozier/Bridges/Simmons/Washington + Smith/Bouknight/Oubre/Plumlee/Kai
how does part 1 benefit the knicks if it lets charlotte upgrade their team via getting simmons? it means their pick will be lower value
Because if something doesn't work out, the Knicks can potentially get a top 5 pick. This seems like a no brainer for NY. Id want something back If i'm charlotte for making that part happen.
