And the Rockets re-sign Bobby Brown, for those interested...

I assume he`s off to Brooklyn then?

Sad that they couldn't finagle the league to have his Nets deal reinstated. But maybe good news for the Nets?

Is Brooklyn allowed to sign him?

Supposedly Brooklyn was going to be blocked from signing him for 1 year. But if no one else will, I could see this getting to a players association appeal.

Apparently he can not sign there:

I understood that they couldn't if he didn't report and Houston pulled their offer sheet making him *RFA*.

If the reports are right, they've renounced their rights to him entirely and made him *UFA*.

So in short I don't know. My head hurts.

Motiejunas can't sign with the Nets for a year. He has 29 NBA options. Really 28, since I guess Houston is out too.

The reason being is that the Rockets matched the Offer Sheet, he refused to report, so it went on to a different style of contract.

Had Motiejunas simply reported and failed the physical, it would have reverted back to the Nets to decide if they wanted him or not.

Odd situation that was a mess for all parties involved.

What a mess. I've been watching the NBA for so many years and I've never seen something like that.

This feels like a situation that should cost Armstrong clients. Like maybe his current guys stay loyal to him, but how does he sell himself after this mess and his bizarre public comments in support of Draymond? Doesn't seem like a guy likely to get you the best deal. Especially since he didn't know somethings a player counts on his agent to know. And that if he had known them he'd either be on the Rockets or the Nets playing for the contract he agreed to.

Quoting myself out of context, for discussion:

loserX wrote:If it's true there are other teams, the only ones with the cap to offer more than this are:
Brooklyn (derp)
Denver
Minny
Philadelphia
Phoenix
Utah

Any of those seem more likely?

Seems like an ideal scenario for Minnesota. Rumors come out that Thibs wants to add a big and now Motiejunas is available with the Wolves being one of the few teams with money. Since the RFA tag is gone I can see the Wolves giving Motiejunas something like $10M this year with an team option for next season.

The only fitting end to this would be Motie signing with the Pistons.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

We do have the cap space, but I doubt Presti rolls the dice if his back is that bad.

This seems like an ideal fit for Minnesota. Of course, I wouldn't mind him signing with Miami once the Bosh situation is resolved.

People are blaming one side or the other for the wrong reasons.

It doesn't look good for the HOU FO and Morey. If I'm a NBA player, I would only choose HOU if they overpay. In similar situation with a similar contract, I'd go somewhere else.

it seems like HOU only matched to retaliate D-Mo and his agent. I think this move will bite HOU in the *** in the future. The only selling card they have now is Harden.

I'm glad the drama and nonsense has ended
Minny seems like a good place for him to go
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team
