Indy waived Delon Wright and signed Cam Payne. Delon took a solid hit to the head the other night against Minnesota and would be in concussion protocol for awhile. He was an exhibit 9 guy, so no impact on the cap.

Meanwhile, TJ McConnell is likely out more than a month with a hamstring or groin injury. Didn’t see it definitively announced yet.

Gonna be a fun year for Indy!

Good thing your head coach is the point guard whisperer. Dallas kept getting passable play out of washed up guys, never were guys. I suspect Indy will still have an offense teams struggle to solve.

it's becoming more and more likely that a point guard will make the roster and one of the centers will not.

The Pistons and Grizzlies are unlikely markets, but they both make a ton of sense basketball-wise. Cade + Giannis would be tremendous and Ausar and Ron Holland would be a good start to a deal. For the Grizzlies, Jaren Jackson and Aldama are quality shooting bigs, and if you have four 3pt shooters and Giannis out there and your 3rd best player is better than KPJ, you're probably in business.

This is an intriguing thought exercise!

I think Giannis wants to be in New York because of proximity to life outside of basketball, which is primarily in Greece.

Nonstop flights to Athens from eight US metros: New York (JFK & Newark), DC, Boston, Philly, Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Los Angeles. (Of course he can fly private which would open up a few more, but it might still be limited based on the max range of smaller jets.)

Of these, Atlanta might have the best shot given the composition of their team combined with their draft assets. Personally, I have massive doubts about Young, but is he enough of a "star" for others? Or do you try to move him in a deal for someone better?

Celtics jump out to me on that list. If Giannis gets injured or the Bucks are just straight up not good this year, Jaylen Brown for Giannis suddenly makes sense.

The Celtics tank this year (send the pick to Milwaukee), Milwaukee gets a solid enough Jaylen-Portis-Turner frontcourt and some picks to attach to an expiring Kuzma for a guard and the rest of this season to hope someone like KPJ can blossom into a 5th starter at the other spot. That's a 5 out team with no massive holes on D, so should be solid enough at both ends if you can find a guard who can create with the lane open, which should be doable.

Celtics get a Pritchard-White-Tatum-Giannis big 4 and just enough space under the tax to look for a shooting big with the MLE to complete the starting lineup, with Hauser as a 6th man.
Where's the D?
