Re: 2022 NBA Draft Open Thread
I like a Hali/Mathurin core. Especially if they can get a big early next draft.

Things can always change, but Indiana has IIRC generally shied away from high-variance guys and gone with players with better floors. This doesn't surprise me much tbh.

As should have been expected. Portland was the most likely to be the first team to deal their pick. But it might be Charlotte when it comes down to it.

Knicks may go hard for Ivey. He's such a Thibs guy and I don't like the Cade/Bey fit. They need an on-ball defender as a guard somewhere
Yeah this isn't over I feel like.

Well surely Sharpe won't fall much more, he should have been pick 4 IMO

I still think Detroit could trade Ivey but are fine keeping him too.
But yeah I bet it's a lot of mid round and down small-ish type deals.

I don’t like this comp, but at least he’s sticking to a player from this millennia.
“Michael Beasley?” “Shareef Abdur-Rahim?”
I hope the majority of the ESPN audience knows who these guys are.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

This makes me realize why I stopped watching anything but live sports on ESPN.

High School Ranking Index data.
Average pick for a guy who goes #1 in HS is #3.5. So independent of all analysis in college, that's usually where a HS #1 gets picked on average. None of the other guys outside of 3 have the upside IMO besdes Dieng.

They would announce the trade before the pick right? Or no?

Reports are your Knicks are still trying to acquire him. Weaver is an imbecile, but I don't think the Kicks have anything to offer for him
