Aldridge has already won 54 games as a second option behind a not very elite #1 in Roy. And this was two years ago before his evolution.

Anyways, vote: Aldridge

Nom: B. Lopez.

Vote: LaMarcus Aldridge

Lots of good conversation about Aldridge, Horford, and Love going on. I think it's hard to evaluate this group statistically, because they're all playing very different roles. I have them all pretty close together. I think Aldridge is the most valuable player from the group because he has demonstrated the most offensive versatility of the group and draws more defensive attention from the opposition.

Well, I'd agree that Love and Horford are better role players on a championship team, I would much rather have Aldridge as a #2 player. Your second star still needs to carry a lot of offensive load. In particular, your second star needs to be capable of creating his own shot as well as playing off the action of your #1 guy. When you look at what Pau Gasol brings to the Lakers, I think Aldridge is much closer to being able to fill that role than Love or Horford.

I remember hearing that constantly about Howard, actually.

Kevin Love - The guy is a beast look at how many damn 20-20 games he's put up this year he might be the best rebounder since Rodman or Barkley the kid is that damn good. One of the best BBIQ's I have seen in a while

Nominate - Josh Smith, Call me a homer but a 25 or 26 year old tweener who can defender with the best of them and is always up there in every defensive category year after year is all right in my books

I think I'll stick with Love

I actually think Love's contract is hurting his value a bit, because his 'low' salary makes it a bit harder to get back equal value and unlike Horford and Aldridge he's not locked up to a long derm deal.

First, Aldridge and Horford are BYC, and you're complaining about Love being hard to trade?

Second, even if they weren't BYC, I can't see how Love being on a rookie scale deal for this year and next is a negative. Heck, at this price, its:

"Would you rather have Aldridge or Love and an $8 mil free agent?"

Third, defensively, is it possible for any player, even the worst defensive player in the league, to outweigh the 16 extra offensive possessions he gives a team? And with all the fouls he draws, he puts opponents on the bench as well. Did I mention he's #7 in the NBA in Free Throws?

#1 in OFF REB
#1 in DEF REB
#7 in min
#14 in PTS
#19 in 3P% (42.0%)
#17 in FT% (86.3%)
#7 in FTs
#1 in EFF

I think while NBA fans complain about the quality oif today's game, they remain captivated by flashy plays and players.

Aldridge

As much as I respect what Love has done, his teams haven't won more than 24 games
in his first three seasons.
