I mean if we are talking trade value to a franchise, Then Kobe is probably even lower on the totem pole. You factor in his no-trade clause, annual cost of 25-30 million, Will be entering his age 33 season, & the few nagging injuries he has, then that all negates the strong possibility of him winning a title after you have matched salary and talent cost.

That's why I would rather trade for a guy like Derozan, Ellis, Martin, Harden, Gordon, etc. I voted Harden #4 though.

Seriously? He's not the player he once was, injuries and stacking up, he's getting older, and his salary is huge.

Someone is seriously wrong about him. Might be me. Might be you. Might just be that the SG field is crap. But, I don't think Kobe should be in the top 5.

Exactly. I think the top 5 is....

Wade
Gordon
Harden
Ellis
Derozan/Evans

Who cares? Over a billion people know who Kobe Bryant is. There are more Kobe jerseys than Timberwolves fans at MIN-LAL games at the Target Center. He might handicap your salary cap, but any team trading for Kobe Bryant just made a ton of money. Even if he contributes to fewer wins than he did a few years ago, he generates income for the team well beyond what they pay him. In fact, he will probably continue to make them money after he retires. Only Wade (from the SG list) can make a similar claim.

If we were talking about on-court value as compared to contract, sure, some of those youngsters are good value. But none of them will make a franchise nearly the same amount of money.

I agree. We aren't voting for the most talented players here, or who has accomplished more. It's who has the most value in the trade market today, right now. Unless you are an older contending team with a small window for contention, guys like Harden, Gordon, etc have much more value than Kobe going forward.

+1 with both of you. A injured star who's approaching his mid-30s while making $30M shouldn't be in the conversaton of a top 5 trade value SG. Top 10, perhaps, but definitely not top 5.

No homer, #5 should be Ellis by a pretty wide margin.

At 6 it is more about your personal scouting then actual production.

I'm not sure Martin or Ginobli between age, defense, and contract, and injuries can beat out the youth prospects, but none of them have broken out like Harden appears to have (and yes that includes George under Vogel, Mayo in the playoffs, Turner in the playoffs, or Wes Johnson in the ... offseason.

Late afternoon second thoughts, I might have to go other and consider Tyreke Evans here.

I'm not seeing him even in the pg nominee list at 9 (and he has more trade value then Rubio who looks to take that) and I could see him playing more sg going forward...
so combo square in the sg hole:
Other: Tyreke and voting to include him in the nominee list.

I would have gone PG but I think he's a SF.

Sue me.

I see both Wes Johnson and Paul George more of SF's I would pick Evan Turner right now. He has the tools to become a star. I see a bit of a Jalen Rose in him DeRozan is good but if I could pick Evan Turner over him I would

Who is voting in this poll, all Toronto fans? How else could Demar Derozan possibly be leading handily over everyone else, including Kevin Martin? Derozan is a good but not great scorer but has no 3 point shot and plays poor defense. He could rise up to average defensively at best. Martin is a poor defender but an elite scorer and can score from all over the court (and spread the floor). Also elite at getting to the line. Derozan hasn't yet broken 15 in PER. This has to be a joke.

So the same Kevin Martin who was acquired for Carl Landry is now the 6xth most valuable shooting guard in the league?

People really think it would take more to acquire him then it would for DeRozan and George, let alone others?

And what about Reke? I can't stand dude as a player, but its obvious at this point in time his value is still very high and I think it's nonsense to list him as a point guard.

Hell I don't think Kevin Martin is necessarily worth any more then Ginobili.

And BTW, George ans Wes Johnson are really small forwards, maybe even DeRozan.

I agree 100%. These lists get derailed by cloudy judgment. DD, George, especially Evans are much higher than him (Martin). I still do not see how Harden is lower than Kobe.

Please vote on which SG you think has the highest trade value.

Opinions and lists are welcome, but please be sure to click and vote!

1. Dwayne Wade
He was winning by a landslide, so I decide to end this massacre early.

2. Eric Gordon
After some back and forth, Gordon took a 21-16 lead which was good enough for my standards.

3. Kobe Bryant
A 13-8 lead over Harden seemed like it would hold up.

4. James Harden
14-8 over Ellis sealed this one.

5. Monta Ellis
Ellis was running away with this one. Next....

Riddle me this..........Harden at 12 ppg, #151 in the NBA is > Ellis, 24 ppg and #8 in the NBA????
SERIOUSLY? F that! That is stupid.

Hard to see Harden as top 8. 12 ppg is not SHOOTING elite. Several SHOOTING gurads are 18-20 ppg...and that says "can shoot".

Harden? WTF? Don't try to fake me out. I'm old and wise.

OBVIOUSLY....unless you inhabit a jar in a cave with no cable TV...........Martin, Manu, Evans, Ellis, J Johnson >> Harden. 5th grade math.

George, DeRozean, Wes J are in fact best for SF and yet will play SG for now.
