I don't see why anyone would want Kanter. He's a net negative on the court. He gives up a truly horrible 61% FG% within 5 feet of the basket. He may be averaging 13.8 ppg and 7.8 rebounds per game in only 27 minutes but you can't just extrapolate that to 36 minutes. Plus, with a USG% of 25.1% (very high for a center) and a TS% of 53% he's scoring rather inefficiently. Furthermore, he contributes basically nothing in the passing department with only .5 assists per game, no shot blocking (a mere .3 per game, which goes hand in hand with the opposing FG% stat), has a box plus/minus of -4.5, and a VORP of -0.8.
Add all this to the fact that you only really have him for a couple months and if you decide to extend him, you'll have to pay him a crazy amount seeing how bigs are paid in today's NBA. I don't know, call me a hater, but the only thing he really has going for him is the fact that he doesn't turn 23 until a couple of months. Other than that, I think it's crazy that Utah expects a team to give up a first round pick, much less having to also give up young talent.
