Here is my trade deadline predictions for the Hawks

- First of all, Jeff Teague is going to be traded, no matter is Al Horford is still there or not
- But if Al gets traded then it is blow up city.

Markieff Morris for Jodie Meeks and the Pistons 2016 1st round pick (lottery protected)

The only way I see the Suns getting a 1st round pick out of Morris is if they take on a short-term contract like Meeks (out for the season) whose contract will be expiring after this season. Don't see the Pistons trading Ilyasova because he's a useful player that they can bring off the bench even with the addition of Morris. He'll also be on a good value contract relative to the new cap, and possible trade bait (expiring) next season. Don't see the Pistons trading Jennings either as they need him as their backup pg. The difference in talent from Jennings to Steve Blake would be much greater than from Morris to Ilyasova. The Suns don't have the PG minutes to give Jennings anyway. The Pistons should make the playoffs regardless, but as it stands they are only the 7th seed and Morris could help them get a better seed. And his twin brother is already on the team.

Nah. Markieff doesn't really bring anything to the table that Detroit really needs to improve on. Specifically shooting, defense, ball movement, and rebounding from the power forward position. He's not going to get them any farther in the playoffs this season or going forward. The Pistons would still need an upgrade at that position this summer and giving away their first round pick for that, even in what looks to be a weak draft, isn't a smart move.

What I hope the Nets do

-Trade Bargnani and Ellington for anything. Cap space in 2016 or just not them. Both have PO for $1.4 and $1.5m next season respectively IIRC.

-Shop Karasev for any sort of future protected 2nd or look to buy him out so he can make the Euroleage POs

-If he can't be traded for anything that decent, buy out JJ for as little as he will accept

-With however many cleared roster spots look to sign D.Leaguers or any decent players that dropped by other teams.

Otherwise, I don't think it's going to be a very busy deadline. Heard it's a seller's market as the PO races are pretty tight. Maybe someone like the Nets could take advantage but they really don't have any desirable players.

Do dreams count?

if so, Chandler Parsons for Al Horford. They can also have Jenkins back if they'd like.

Texas Chuck wrote:But my thinking is that Utah needs to be looking at using up some of their picks because they don't need to add many more young guys. But more importantly Utah has a bunch of core guys that are going to need big contracts starting 2 summers from now. So finding guys on deals that end by 2018 should be their strategy. It will be harder to get those guys via free agency with other teams being willing to give longer deals so the trade route is the way to go.

There is one train of thought that the bolded is exactly why the Jazz won't trade any of their picks, since we'll need them to fill out the roster cheaply while everyone else is on max deals or whatever. We shall see what Lindsey has in mind.

I would personally be fine with a Burke/1st for Teague deal but I don't know that Atlanta would. We'd also have to be careful of doing to Teague exactly what Atlanta would be: saying "thanks for coming in, now go sit on the bench while we play our young guy."

Oh I understand the importance of having cheap guys to fill around the core, but at that point Utah would maybe prefer most of those to be vet min guys rather than developing rookies? Adding one first rounder a year should be sufficient.

And I can't imagine next year that Teague would be put on the bench for Exum. By next year I can't imagine the playoffs not being a very serious goal and while it would be awesome if Exum was ready to take a starter's role and minutes that seems like a lot to ask.

Now that doesn't mean this deal is correct for Utah. I think the Jazz could keep their assets and offer contracts like Boston offered Amir where you overpay in order to maintain more flexibility and Utah will certainly have plenty of cap space this year. But you know me--I have no patience when it comes to the Jazz. I want that team to win now because I just really like all their core guys.

I see Boston making an out of no where (as they said on an ESPN NBA Podcast, "A Deron Williams to the Brooklyn Nets type of trade") blockbuster where they give some one a god father offer for a star we all didn't see getting dealt.

My specific prediction: The Bucks decide to trade one of their talented wings and get a bunch of draft picks from Boston for one of them. They could probably dump Greg Monroe for David Lee's contract because with one of those wings, Monroe would kind of be a good fit in Boston. If they wanted extra incentive rather than draft pick compensation, some things to tilt the value without using the picks would be: Swapping Marcus Smart for Michael Carter-Williams and/or sending Kelly Olynyk or Avery Bradley to Milwaukee. I could see Milwaukee taking advantage of the lack of sellers and sell super high on some big parts of their team that isn't leading to wins while Boston sees the lack of sellers and decides to overpay for one of the wings from Milwaukee.
Disclaimer: Trades I post shouldn't make you stressed or angry if you disagree. If you say it's unproductive because it won't happen and we're only allowed to post deals that actually happen, it takes away 99% of trades here and the fun out of the board.

Jazz absorb a contract for a second round pick. I'll just guess a trade with the Nets for Jarret Jack who is out for the year.

Tucker to Toronto in a small deal.
Gallo to Boston in a bigger deal.
Portland takes on an EC or two to get near the salary floor, adding a 2nd or two (and net saving money themselves).
Lou Williams for EC filler (possibly to the Clippers).

Markieff is traded, to where, hell if I know.

If Atlanta makes a move, it will be for a starting SF or a young talented tweener SF. I think is a reasonable trade regardless if MIL fans do not think so:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=z4xfv98
Parker and Copeland for Teague and Holliday

Roy Hibbert will be traded.

Memphis will be active on the phones and expect more chatter from them as the deadline looms.

Houston will hold their deck of cards.

Boston will be the most active but won't be able to strike a deal.

Portland will make a trade.

Sacramento will as well.

I expect Phoenix to be the most active as they can trade players for picks which is more affordable for playoff teams. There is always one of these teams and this year it's Phx.

Orlando might make a move depending on the offer.

I expect Toronto to look for players for picks. Maybe even trade their NY pick if the right offer is on the table. It's unlikely though.

I absolutely agree with the Bledsoe one, been saying it for a while now. What kinda deal can you see?

They have tons of 1st Rd picks. Maybe a Noel for Soe swap but Soe hasn't been healthy of late

well this is actually one of the best melo/blake trades I've seen. value seems really close. maybe knicks could get one more pick(bostons 16 first) back or at least 1-2 prospects like young/rozier/sullinger.

Ken,

you don't have to be a Bucks fan to not find that trade reasonable. I really wish you were willing to listen to all the feedback you have gotten concerning your over-valuing of Hawks PG's. Way too many smart, objective posters have addressed this for you to continue to hold so stubbornly to your position.

And I say this as someone who also finds Parker over-valued a lot on this board. But no chance the Bucks give up on him this early for Teague.

Toronto trades a first round pick. I'm not sure if it will be our pick or the Knicks' pick, but we will try to upgrade the roster. Whether it's James Johnson or Patrick Patterson heading out, we'll try to get an upgrade for the roster. I'll make a few predictions to see if one sticks:

Trade #1
Markieff Morris for Patrick Patterson, 2016 1st Round Pick (TOR)

Trade #2
PJ Tucker for Delon Wright, James Johnson

Trade #3
Al Horford, Lamar Patterson, Justin Holiday for Patrick Patterson, James Johnson, Delon Wright, 2016 1st Round Pick (NYK / DEN), 2016 1st Round Pick (TOR)
