I mean if the Knicks were offering literally nothing then no they did not win.

But Minnesota definitely lost. No way around that.

How did MN lose???

If they offered same pick for DLO without Wiggins, one can argue value was close. But to have Warriors eat Wiggins and give Wolves Russell for 1 FRP -- wow.

I thought the signing of Russell smelled. IDK who won the deal or if they both lost. I'll reserve judgement until the pick conveys.

Both players are fool's gold. Russell probably less negative than Wiggins but not enough to give up what will almost certainly be a very valuable pick. Plus I hate giving Towns his friend rather than giving him some help. They are setting up a happy place not a winning place.

The bad news is that in towns, russell and beasley the wolves now will start 3 of the worst defenders at their respective positions

The good news is that other teams are only allowed to score against us once per possesion.

I think Minny getting out of Wiggins is a win. They could really use a 3 and D to go with Russell and Towns though... a player like Covington

Minnesota needed to get rid of Wiggins and they did, sucks they had to deal some possibly good picks but its nice they get another young player at a position of need back. Russell's contract is slightly less bad after this year too which is nice for them I guess.

Amazing that these two guys will be making $30M + a year for the next few seasons. I don't think either are really positive impact players the majority of the time, especially Wiggins.

We have to remember the 2022 double draft is coming. I would bet a lot of money that is why the very low protection on 2021. Wolves would MUCH rather give them even #4 in 2021 draft than risk anything in 2022 draft.

I can hear KAT and DLO now.... Trade for our boy, Dbook NOW!!

Wiggins needed a change of scenery anyway. I was hoping for 2 1sts, but ahh well. the Warriors still have their studs in play for next season. Add in their 1st round pick and Minny's, and it'll be all good.

I think any defensive loss from losing Cov is more than made up by losing Wiggins.

Why do you think that?

Because KAT and Russell playing buddy-ball on a team with no structure and no defenders is gonna be a train wreck.

But russell is also terrible at defense. Ditto for beasley. Anyway you look at it they got worse on D, not better.. unless you think their O can carry them

Probably not the best time to mention that the NBA is going to experiment with a make-it, take-it rule in SL with thoughts of implementing it in the league full-time.

He's both tbf. They desperately needed a PG and another elite shooter. They had KAT stretching the floor for some less talented players because he was the only great outside threat.

The next-level angle behind this with Golden State is that if they want to go all-in on another star with Steph, Klay, and Draymond, it's probably going to be easier to trade their pick plus Wiggins and the Minny 1st rather than Russell since the draft is point guard-heavy.

I'm not happy at all, but on the other hand, the Wolves are cursed and bad either way. With Wiggins and pick that will result in a bust or DLo and a gifted 4th pick to GSW. It doesn't matter anyway. :')

They aren't winning with an unhappy Towns and are certainly more likely to win with a Happy Towns.

I'm not sure how you think Russell was fool's gold last year. He led a mediocre Brooklyn team to the playoffs. He had a good BPM [3.4], shot 37% from 3, he finished with a 1.53 BPM last year as well.

Beyond statistics he is a gifted passer with incredible vision and has a knack for scoring [especially in the clutch].

He obviously has his deficiencies and shortcomings as a player but he is about to turn 24 and is still pre-prime [relative to point guards]. This also positions Minnesota for Booker in the off-season, and say what you want about Booker but he is a very good player.

This trade is about fit. Both players are overrated. Why the need for D-Lo when you have Curry and Klay? Why the need for Wiggins when you lack perimeter shooting? Both have long term deals that fit better after the trade. Both are still overrated.

I think Golden State will be better with Wiggins because he will be playing in one of the best passing systems in the game. Plus enough of them can spread the floor for him to slash and drive and hit uncontested mid range shots.

The Wolves may not make the playoffs next season so the Warriors may have added a lottery pick plus a player who fits better. But DLo fits better with Towns. The Wolves kept their top 5 pick this season plus the Nets pick. So they will be adding.

So the wolves basically have to resign Beasley now right?

So theyre going to have their entire cap committed to Dlo, Beasley, and Towns? Ouch
