I voted both but as a Wolves fan I am really happy to have Rubio back in the fold for all the reasons shrink mentioned above.

Yeah I’d like to know this too.

Don’t think the Wolves can just take on the cap.

The deal was to cut in front of Dallas for Pokusevski, who could be a top-3 player from this draft.

I'm very excited about the kid. I hope we bring him over immediately. I also hope we bring Kanter back so Adams and Kanter can show the kid how to eat.

.........ok?

But we were talking about how the Wolves are matching cap, not who was drafted or what team was jumped to get him.

Which I remain curious about. I don't know the Wolves cap situation, but it's unlikely you all have 17m laying around right?

Just looking at the sheet and doing this in my head, Wolves have the cap if you renounce Evan, Juan, and Beasley, I think? Odd to me that JJ wasn't mentioned, but also would seem odd to me for the Wolves to do all that for OKC here, since moving out JJ isn't at all a big deal to Minny imo.

I believe it is just everyone being cute. JJ hasn't technically opted in yet, so how could he be traded??? Oh look he opted in? Okay it is JJ as filler.

That's right my scenario also requires JJ to opt out which... no. So I think that's right.

On Dane Moore’s podcast, Kevin Tighe of CanisHoopus made a good point that I hadn’t thought of before:

Could you ask for a better mentor for Edwards than Rubio?

1. Makes the game easier for him
2. Knows what it’s like to be a star at a young age
3. Also knows the heartbreak of losing a parent (as does KAT and Ryan)
4. He can be the team-first adult in the room, and still respect other people’s need for personal stats.

He also pointed out that KAT can use some Rubio mentorship too. He has credibility too, helping Donovan Mitchell (for Edwards) and Booker (star buddy of KAT). Teams and players do better when Rubio is out there, and he makes me more comfortable with the Edwards pick.

Johnson opted in so assume that will seal up this deal with him included.

It's amusing to me that the rebuilding Thunder have a Horford/Johnson/Adams frontcourt with a combined age of almost the rest of the team

Why do you say they are rebuilding?

They made the playoffs last year. As constructed, they will make the playoffs this year. Call it a retool.

Because if they get rebuilding offers for any one of those guys, they will likely jump on it so fast they go back in time. Trading Rubio for James Johnson and pick swaps isn't retooling.

It is if you still hit the playoffs.

I don't think they are making the playoffs. Yes they have a number of solid role players, but SGA isn't threatening enough and I can't imagine they bring Gallo back.

Probably not. But I think they need to bleed more talent to be sure.

I'm the 1 OKC vote.

I dunno, maybe it's semantics. But we've now seen Paul get traded for Rubio and Oubre (and future stuff), then Rubio traded for expiring salary filler (and future stuff) and now apparently Oubre traded for nothing (possibly future stuff).

When I think "retool" I think of acquiring a different core. I think none of the non-prospect players being acquired are part of a core; they are placeholders who will be flipped at the first opportunity for more assets and/or salary relief.

To me this is a rebuild; it's just being done gradually with a scalpel instead of all in one go with a bulldozer. That may not be how everyone sees the distinction however.

OKC needs to move Oubre, and they will, but this team is not going to the playoffs. Ty Jerome is the most experienced PG on the roster. What to do with Adams/Horford is the biggest remaining question. Gallo is getting a SnT or walking. Noel might come back to get flipped.

Maledon/Jerome/Lecque
SGA/Diallo
Dort/Schofield
JJ/Bazley/Poku
Adams/Horford

They aren’t done, but that’s not a promising playoff squad.
