Harden deal DONE - your take? (You can select multiple options)

Harden My Heart - Nets win. You get a chance at a transformative player, you take it. Any real damage is years off, if ever, and in the meantime you are a legit contender.
28
22%
Home Dipo - Rockets win. The love affair was over, and in exchange they got a *good* win-now player in Oladipo (albeit expiring), plus 4 picks and 4 swaps. That's a plenty good salvage under the circumstances.
19
15%
Allen Key - Cavaliers win. They picked up their C of the future for taking one extra year of Taurean Prince and giving up a lame pick.
45
35%
LeVerting to the Mean - Pacers win. Oladipo is talented, but they got a good younger (and *cheaper*) player to keep growing with their core.
28
22%
Driving a Harden Bargain - Nobody wins. Harden won't help the Nets win anything, both Houston and Cleveland screwed up by giving up value for players they will still have to sign, and a rising Pacers team just got worse.

Rockets trade Harden - for Oladipo, Kurucs, Exum, 4 1sts, 4 swaps
Cavs trade Exum, Milwaukee 1st, 2nd - for Allen and Prince
Pacers trade Oladipo for LeVert

Can update as details come in...

If this is one deal, please merge the Dipo thread in. I created the other based on intial reporting.

Woj said it was an expanded deal, so in the absence of reports to the contrary, can merge as requested!

good on Houston! given the horrid situation this is .... 4 picks/and swaps from the nets, a 1st from the cavs via the bucks, dipo, Rodions Kurucs and Dante Exum. does that sum it up??

think the cavs part letting go of Allen and Prince in favor of rod, exum, and the bucks pick was not a good idea

Harden and Kyrie on the same team? Good luck with that.

If Houston hadn't have traded Allen and prince for Exum and Bucks FRP then this deal would have been a lot better for them.

Wall, Oladipo, House, Wood, Allen would have been nice.

Are people really sleeping on them? Because I have the potential of those late picks/swaps being the only thing that matters here.

Obviously Brooklyn is counting on winning a title with this core, establishing themselves as a winning team that can constantly reload with stars in FA a la the Lakers using the New York market and thus not worrying about having no picks and no talent like happened after KG/Truth.

I love it for them because they no longer have to make one of the tougher offseason calls. If you keep Dipo, you pretty much have to give him a mondo contract, and I'm not so sure you want to do that. The injury history and the questionable ranged jumper make it tough to see him making his next contract worth it.

Levert you get for 2 more years, at presumably about 60% of the price, and I'd feel more comfortable from a consistency standpoint with him. He's not the #1 Dipo could be, but I'd rather have a solid 2/3 I can count on than a 1 I feel suspect about.

The ranged jumper was one of the things to feel the best about Oladipo! The defense too, as we had basically put him as primary defender on the priority wings.

Defense is fine (though again, I'm not convinced of his health long-term but w/e).. its his ranged shooting. Is he a 31% from 3? 34? 37? He's had one star year where's been able to stay healthy and play well.. and he's expiring, waiting for a big contract. To trade a very solid 2nd/3rd option in Levert, who's under contract for the next 2 years.. I think Indy did extremely well. Rockets did great until they involved Pacers/Cavs

I'm pretty sure this deal got done and at this price point in no small part because the Nets know they can't rely on Kyrie who hinted this summer he might be moving on from basketball. But KD/Harden is a championship core without Kyrie.

I don't understand why people calling Cleveland winners, they gave up a first and took a bad contract for a garbage man center they're going to have to overpay this summer

It appears there is a big gulf in perceived value for me vs this board when it comes to those Nets players

Either that or they will have to move Kyrie.

The 24 swap isn't all that useful though since the 24 Houston pick goes to OKC unless it's top 4.

I have none of them as particularly valuable--including Allen and LeVert.

Thats all predicated on the Rockets being better as the Nets get worse, so I dont see a ton of value there yet. Potential, sure. But the Nets got most of their clout via FA, so thats why I like betting against them long-term. Rockets are more of a neutral there at this point

It's a contract they can easily afford to absorb and a pick from a team with Giannis on it. Also you apparently have not been watching Allen.

Well i just keep seeing people lump all the picks together as 'late round picks' (mostly GB) and yeah.. those are the only things I see as legit value, for sure. Rockets did one of those half and half things, where they kinda rebuilt, kinda didn't, and when does that ever work out? MIL 1st for Allen, expiring Dipo for Levert.. just take those 2, the 3 1sts + 4 swaps, and be done! I think if they did that, looks a lot better for them. Build around those 2 + Wood in the short term. Now they have Wall, Dipo, Wood.. and if they re-sign Dipo, that's a 70m-ish backcourt that I really wouldnt be stoked to have

Allen has got better every year he has been in the NBA. If you think he's a garbage man center then that's probably where your assessment misaligns with others.

Obviously Brooklyn big winners here. Philly looks really bad imo if it was about Maxey or no Maxey. But I am sure we'll get some patented Morey spin.

Need details on what's leaving the Cavs, but if they grabbed Allen for a protected pick that's a nice snag and somewhat uncharacteristically aggressive for the Cavs which I think is a good sign.

Read a tweet on the Sixers board that Houston may have wanted Simmons/Maxey/Thybulle and picks. As much as I’m not a Simmons fan, that seems like either a Maxey or picks too much

-edit, it’s by some guy named Jason Dumas, might not be accurate

Did this one last week, might be off by like 100k and need tweaking:

Zeller, Monk, Biz for Drummond, Maker
