Rose to Knicks: your take?

Rose-Coloured Glasses: Knicks win. Rose is still productive and the cost was meaningless.

Every Rose Has Its Thorn: Pistons win. This team isn't going anywhere so selling off expiring vets for look-see prospects and 2nds is the right move.

Everything's Coming Up Roses: both teams win. Knicks get a needed talent upgrade and the rebuilding Pistons get future assets.

Rose to the Challenge: both teams lose. Knicks shouldn't be giving up assets to satisfy their coach's man-crush, and the Pistons could at least have gotten a *little* more.

If they could have, they would have.

Not surprised, Detroit wanted Smith last season.

100%

And I don't get this from the Knicks perspective, this is just going take minutes from their young player (especially Quickley). They should be trading away their senior players not getting more, are they going to sacrifice development to get knocked out in 4 games by whoever is the 1st seed.

Suspect this is more about Elf's minutes than Quickley's.

Plus one of the issues with moving Quickley off the 2nd unit has been how much that group struggles to score when Quickley isn't cooking. So if IQ keeps improving, I would expect him to be starting with Rose leading the 2nd unit, sooner or later.

Personally I think Detroit should have tried to add a little extra value and get Robinson instead. They could use a center to balance out their roster. :D

It never hurts to try, I guess...but what on earth makes you think the Knicks would've parted with Robinson in any Rose-trade?

I'm just messing around. Detroit shouldn't offer enough for it to be worth it for the Knicks given their roster.

I think Kyrie is destined for the Knicks, as he's made for the Garden. Which makes Rose a serviceable backup, as the Rose "nostalgia" hype is beyond old/overrated, as he easily gives up as many points as he might score these days.

I see Quickley starting in short order. Hopefully the Kyrie trade happens for Randle/Barrett/Nkitlina or EPayton, so Barrett can be 3rd scorer as he was overrated primary scorer on a bad team taking volume shots at subpar %, and he can chase the other team's best player on defense. And Randle can smash the paint. And in exchange Kyrie will excite the Garden once again, as it is desperately in need of ... think scoring title next year.

Get a good seat for the show DRose. Kyrie appears to have slayed some mental demons this year, he looks focused and deadly last 5-6 games. His time "coming" home to the Nets served it's purpose more off the court than on. He's ready for primetime, and that doesn't happen playing peekaboo with Durant/Harden. Give him the Garden for his prime.

Maybe it was the thousand trade offers for the Kuzma AND a FRP that is wearing me thin.

Yea. I don't see a good matchup tradewise. Robinson is very valuable to us but doesn't offer long enough control for a team like Detroit to pay the price to trade for him. They'd have at most a year and a half of him and he wouldn't qualify for a QO (if memory serves me correctly).
Why rely on nuance, facts and logic when you can bludgeon the other side with mindless repetition of "Duuur McDaniel's has potential :tooth and still be treated as if you were reasonable.

I think the value is about right for a DRose trade, but I have no idea what the knicks are doing. Rose can still give a big bench scoring boost when healthy, but what is that worth to the knicks? Just try to sneak into the playoffs riding an aging vet?
