I can't imagine Denver trading Porter, he's such a perfect fit alongside Jokic & Murray. We can have some fun.

Of course everyone is going to call Porter "damaged goods" and de-value him --- but notice that since the Nuggets started playing him, he doesn't spend time on the injured list. And last year's little rant about shots during the playoffs makes people de-value him because of his attitude; but that does not give him a "bad attitude", when you have a shot as sweet as his, you need to shoot and shoot often. That's his value.

In order to replace him, Denver needs a wing shooter or a stretch-4 with an emphasis on STRETCH. Most of those players are not available and/or Denver's going to want the player plus at least a mid-level 1st. Then add in the salary issue. Porter's still on a very nice rookie contract.

So just trying to find something remotely possible:

Joe Harris would be nice - but it would take Barton's salary to make things work
Duncan Robinson would be nice & Miami could throw in some filler
Lonzo Ball wouldn't be a bad choice - but it would take Green's salary (no doubt New Orleans would like Morris too)

MPJ for Duncan S&T based deal looks awesome to me

That would be the foundation SMH unless you also want to trade Bol for Butler.

No I understood “based deal” meant to imply the foundation.

That was your phrase. What I posted was "Duncan Robinson would be nice & Miami could throw in some filler". For those who do not understand that phrase "filler" means "additional" and it does not specify how much or what type. I apologize for confusing you with my English and my assumption that most readers understood this concept.

My apologies - old man had a rough day and clearly isn't thinking very well.

Base a deal on that concept (to use your word) is what I was saying - I missed that (right over my head). :usa:

MPJ, Green and Morris for Boucher, Trent, Van Vleet and #12?

Raptors get a Siakam/MPJ/Anunoby wing troika to build around and can just resign Lowry and sign an MLE center:

MLE/Birch
Siakam/MPJ
MPJ/Anunoby
Anunoby/Morris
Lowry/Flynn

and the Nuggets draft a veteran to play the 3 like Franz Wagner who should be able to hold up okay by year 2 when Barton has left and Murray is back to run a 3 guard rotation with VanVleet and Trent.

Jokic/FA/Green
Gordon/Boucher/Green/Nnaji
Barton/Cancar/Wagner
Trent/Dozier
VanVleet/Campazzo

Maybe the Nuggets get lucky in free agency and find a SF who needs to rebuild his value like Otto Porter on a 1 year deal since that starting spot and moving Barton to be the 6th man he should be is very open. Could also deal Green or Nnaji for a SF they like. But long-term, the point is they get Trent and VanVleet to run with Murray, Jokic and Gordon which looks like a very strong closing 5, and the #12 pick could get them the 3 an D SF they need, either via the pick or maybe you trade it for Dort or someone cheap but ready to D up on guys like Kawhi now.

The Nuggets won't trade MPJ, not now and not likely in the future.

I agree, he doesn't get traded unless he does a Porzingis and suggests he wants out. They have the right frontcourt and now it's gotta all be about finding a starting 2 guard who can lock up guards and hit 3s (Gary Harris if he never got hurt basically) and Murray getting back to full health, presumably by trading an expiring Will Barton and some assets like Nnaji or picks for someone to fill that role, or maybe they get lucky and some 2 guard like Jason Richardson decides to take the MLE there.

I think SGA has the edge for now but I don’t think it’s inconceivable that MPJ ends up being the better player.

I’m here, too. I personally think SGA should hold a tad more value than MPJ, but I am not surprised if others feel that MPJ should hold a tad more value. Either way, it’s probably pretty close in terms of trade value, in a vacuum.

Edit: Sorry, just realized this was 3 days old
