yeah but Dallas took on the whole Holmes deal. Washington is moving out similar money, so they don't need compensation for Holmes salary, just Gafford the player. Now we can dispute what Gafford is worth, maybe it is a late 1st, but there doesn't need to be a Holmes tax. Obviously if there was a market for an expiring plus first, Washington would have done that. There wasn't.

Can't believe the Mavs got Gafford for a corpse and some puny picks.

Chandler/Haywood/Ian probably.

But their PF at the time was subpar 8-)

On serious note, and I don't want to be a jinx, but can this deal fall through still, if Dallas can come to agreement regarding draft compensation with OKC or other teams?

My guess is no, but of course it could. But doubt Washington would want to back out. They'd probably just take Propser or Hardy and 2nds or whatever.

This is an excellent deal for Dallas. Young, shot-blocking big(7th in the league at 2.2 per. )

Excellent long term piece for the Mavs.

If Dallas is sending a first in the PJ Washington deal, I have to assume this is for 2nds/swaps/Prosper

Utah's 2024 1st for Gafford is a good return for WAS...plenty of center prospects in that range...

Now, the question is what is Dallas giving up? just a pick swap?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's currently the LAC pick #26.

Sounds like OKC is just being friendly and making a gift here.

Sounds good. We'll comp their hotels and meals on Saturday.

Are you sure? OKC has currently HOU, UTA and LAC 1sts in 2024. So, right now, the 2nd worst pick is UTA at 13th.

Obviously, UTA's pick is top-10 protected and in that case WAS would end up with LAC's crappy 1st. So, Wizards fans are all rooting for UTA to make the playin

Second worst of LAC/OKC/UTA/HOU 1st.

The 1st worst goes to Toronto.
The 2nd worst goes to Washington.

I wish Charlotte could have tried to get on these deals instead of OKC.

Again, are you sure? Because OKC do not own their 1st. So, again, right now the second worst pick is UTA's.

I mean who wouldn’t want a swap 5 years out from a team that trades a first for PJ and a star that has to be wondering what’s going on…

Presti is asset rich enough to throw in on the chance. I suggested a few worst first for a future Miami swap.. Dallas swap is probably better despite having Luka currently*

It has to stay worded that way as there’s no guarantee of which team’s pick Toronto or Washington get. All four picks need to be factored into both trades in case of some surprise later in the season..

Interesting to see what is the final wording in the trade agreement. For WAS, selecting in the draft #26 vs. #13 is a big difference...
