KAT for Randle, DDV and #17

New York gets flexibility for salary and much needed depth, adding a 1st in this year's draft.

Minnesota would never consider it.

Just feels like they need another guy that can truly set the table for others or distribute. Brunson and Towns are both GREAT players, and can get themselves a bucket almost whenever they want. But if they were tired, NY just bogged down too much this series versus Indiana. All the rest of the guards are some combo of 3 and/or D, which is great to have, but they just need another real PG or distributing wing to make things easier.

Who is that?

Ayo Dosunmu, Jevon Carter and Jalen Green for Josh Hart, Pacome Dadiet, P.J. Tucker and 2026 Conditional Wizards First Round Draft Pick? Does that help?

They just had their best season since 1998-99….they are going to run it back right?

Good question. I'm thinking just a TJ McConnell level guy more than anything else. Flawed, but can help create and get the ball to guys for easy buckets and run a system.

This - Mikal Bridges played out of position all season- he’s a small forward - and relying on him to be the secondary ball handler was underwhelming.

The starting unit features 3 small forwards - so two guys are always playing out of position and there isn’t enough elite talent on the roster to offset that.

In addition to needing a true shooting guard, the Knicks need a durable big to play next to Towns.

How about KAT to Pels for McCollum, Kelly O and Hawkins. Starting five would be Brunson, McCollum, OG, Bridges, Robinson. Bench of Kelly O, Hart, Hawkins and McBride. You’re now 8 deep and you still have the Hart move in trading him for two contracts.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

KAT has more value than this. Hawkins isn't a rotation player and neither is Olynyk for a team competing in May.

Feels like Tyus or Tre would be available cheap? If you could convince Chris Paul to ring chase, it'd be a home run. Russ? Simmons (but after how he played in LA, )? Elfrid Payton as a 3rd PG? See who shakes loose via trade as salary filler in some trade?

Russ is kind of perfect after seeing what gave Denver in stretches

I agree but he’s making $55 mil per and is extension eligible.

Russ in 20-25 mpg seems great there.

A lot of players are extension-eligible who won't be receiving an extension.

Hard to imagine a player who has one of their best seasons in their career, coming off back-to-back semifinal appearances as a Top 3 player on their respective teams and going from being traded for an all-nba player, a low-end starter and a 1st round pick you are traded for a middling starter on the back-end of their career and expiring money.

KAT's value dropped that substantially after having a legitimately good year?

Yep... Just a guy that can exchange buckets and hold water while Brunson is resting.

And, more importantly, can set up guys for some easy shots with his ability to slash and power through. He can still see the passing lanes.

For the sake of fun, let's go total blow up...

OG for Bane
KAT for KD
Hart, Dadiet, Tucker and conditional Wizards 1st for Claxton

It is interesting that in an attempt to build a contender and have 3+D guys to go up against Boston, they lots a bunch of ball handlers and that has cost them vs the Pacers.

IQ, RJ, DDV were all guys who could bring the ball up the court so it wasn't all on Brunson.

I am sure they will address it this offseason

Knicks already have a TJ McConnell type in Tyler Kolek who is a pure PG distributor. Maybe he’ll get more burn from Thibs when he is no longer a rookie next season.

I’d look to move McBride then (since Kolek will be the backup to Brunson) who is on a sick value contract for a Big who fits well with Towns lineups.

Then round out the team while not doing major changes and run it back.
