I should be accepting I was wrong on Sexton’s value but…

Gafford and Hardy is still offered? Maybe Dallas is owed seconds..

Sexton was definitely better than any player I could've imagined we'd get with Nurkic, who is pretty much cooked.

This is Ainge trying to tank as much as humanly possible imo

I don’t understand any part of this. Why is Charlotte trading away all its centers? Why is Utah adding a pick? Is Danny into some kind of pig butchering scam here?

Only two things make sense to me. Either Nurkic is accepting a buyout so we are paying to save money, or there is a team that wants an expiring center instead of a guard and we needed one that makes around this exact salary to complete a different trade. If it is something else it is just a demonstration that Ainges are overrated.

Charlotte trading all their centers isn't really relevant. It will be in August or September but this is early in the off-season. Assessing roster moves without full transparency of Free Agency is a bit foolish.

Nurk is worthless. I'd rather carry an empty roster spot and sign a D-League standout C midseason as our 3rd stringer than give him a minute ahead of Moose or Kalkbrenner.

Also common sense would say that we're looking at a significant center upgrade over Moose/Kalk, though who actually knows with this team. The Mark trade will never make sense to me unless we know they've already got something legit lined up.

Austin Ainge said they aren't tanking this year so apparently the plan is to send off all their vets? They won't be playing tank games but will just lose organically by giving all their minutes to kids. Kinda crazy to give up a pick in this deal though.. Obviously this deal was not made by Danny who would give up an organ before trading out a pick.

What else are we supposed to do on this forum until then?

I think Monk is worth more, a bit bigger, bit more pick and roll skills, but yeah definitely not a good sign for his value

Monk might be worth a tad more but the archetype is not super valuable. Alot of guards including Jerome, NAW, DLo, etc will be available in free agency too.

I assess the trade understanding Charlotte has the time, assets and salary to make additional moves. I'm not going to assess their roster as a whole now.

I'm not going to control and dictate how you assess it. I find it premature but if it is if interest to you then engage as if Charlotte is done making moves.

I'd be critical, like you, of Charlotte if their center rotation looks as it does now when the season starts.

Maybe they make a big play for Myles Turner?

That's a good point MG! Also probably means Danny Ainge and his son have different value assessment of assets.

I also think with 2nds being so much about signing contracts, their value is less than what it was in the past.

I like Nurkic more than most (yes, bad last season, but as a rehab guy), but don't really get why we paid a 2nd to do this.

Seems like a move to facilitate something else, but in isolation it looks like a D type of move to me.

The tell tale was Portland having to throw in 2 SRP's plus take a long term salary to get off Simons.

After the nonsensical draft, this only serves as further evidence to me that Austin Ainge is a paste-eating moron. I give up trying to understand this iteration of Jazz management.

I think the goal for Utah is to be so bad they lose even trying to win. Not a tank if you suck.
Collins to mia/sa/sac for rozier/barnes/dd and a protected first or seconds.
Markky to SA/no for expiring and picks.
Total ground zero.

You guys did very very well getting that second.
I would have thought you guys were going to be paying the second instead.

Would need to find a vet big to sit on the bench now though.

He’s losing the small trades so he can win the big ones.

Chess moves basically.
