Eh, even if one believes his mid-range based game is worth making him the centerpiece of an offense(I do not), his history tells you that you can't depend on him to play enough games. Then when you consider his game isn't particularly complimentary to legit offensive stars, I'm not sure he is positive value to many teams. 50 games of a subpar 2nd option who doesn't do much to make life easier for your first option or your role players and who isn't a good defender making what he makes? Not sure there is real value here.

He caps the ceiling of the team, but he's a volume scorer on average effeciency as a 1st option, and showed signs of being able to shoot 3s.
At sub 25% of the cap, 2 + 1, that's a good contract, I wouldn't target him if I wanted to win a ring, but to provide the push to make the PO, he's good enough.
We'll see how he fares this year.

If you thought he had a good chance at playing 70+ games, I get what you are saying. But the difference between him and say DeRozan is Derozan is going to play 75+ games and big minutes. BI misses 20 games a year in his best years, but he's averaged 45 games the last 4 years.

That's bad value at his cap figure imo.

Fingers crossed his health is rejuvenated away from New Orleans. At least we are not in the western conference bloodbath so we should still be a playin team even if he misses a bunch of games. 60 gp from him would make that contract worthwhile to me.

Suns pick could be useful but this is a draft night move rather then a deadline move. Could backfire for Toronto Santi again is a nice backup but I think Toronto keeps what they have

I see CMB as the perfect 3rd big for Jaren and Edey. Santi is likely the most valuable player in the deal and he fits as an off ball stretch four who can rebound, pass, dribble and shoot. This deal at the deadline gets the Raptors below the tax by moving RJ as well.

Doubt we offer this deal come draft night though.

Grizz were interested in CMB and I would likely look to reroute RJ for Derozan to be our super sub.

CMB is a keeper for us, no thanks. Many other ways to dodge the tax without trading CMB

Understandable it will be interesting to see what he looks like on the Raptors. We can reevaluate at the deadline.

By the deadline, I suspect CMB will either be in the rotation and a player TOR considers untouchable, or a player other teams don't really value as a recent lotto pick. Either way, I doubt he'll be moved.

I do think TOR will look for a deadline deal that shaves enough salary ($1M or so) to duck the tax. Agbaji, Dick, Barrett and Ingram are all possibilities. At the moment, I think the most likely deal is either Agbaji or Dick going out, with a min-salary big plus a SRP or 2 coming back to TOR.

Looking at MEM's line-up, I'd think you would have more interest in Ingram than Barrett, and I can see that as a possible fit for TOR as well -- depending on how the first half goes, and who is offering what.

Valid, I think CMB definitely has a chance of struggling on offense playing along side Barnes/RJ/BI/Poeltl/other non shooting bigs. But the defense I expect to translate.

Regarding BI his salary is a bit out of the range I think we feel comfortable paying and RJ is more of a filler to get us bench scoring. But only way I’m good with taking BI is if we adding CMB as well.

Likely non deal but Raptors were one the teams to send an offer for Des with the 9 pick on the line. Darko likes Santi and is familiar with Santi and Brandon Clarke’s game from his time here so small possibility.

Fair enough. As I said, I think the most likely TDL deal is Agbaji or Dick out, min-salary big in. If TOR sucks, no reason to invest more; if TOR surprises, no reason to move a starter.

Surprised at TOR having interest in Bane because they already have 10-11 guys on the roster who can play SG -- but given the Toronto front office's tendency to have severely unbalanced and unworkable rosters, anything is possible!

When the timing is right, what about Brandon Ingram FOR Naji Marshall, Daniel Gafford, PJ Washington?

Would a contender start any of these guys? I doubt it.

The Suns do not need Barrett at all. Allen's contract is not an expiring one.

Ingram is far from netting Ausar Thompson.

Even if TOR wants to reset and even rebuild, I just don't see why Barnes needs to be involved unless they get a can't refuse type of offer.

I don't buy this, Clippers easily could use Barnes so could Lakers, Denver, Wolves, GSW, Celtics, Knicks (move OG to SF and Hart as 6th man)

Barnes can't shoot, and would come off LAC bench. He wouldn't start over Draymond, nor for the Knicks probably just because Hart at least shoots a little, and when that's a liability they'd start Mitchell. He wouldn't start for the version of the Celtics that was a contender either. I also don't see him starting over Randle or Gordon. The Lakers don't need another non-shooter starting either.

Knicks are the closest, I admit he might start there, but that's because they're literally taking their worst starter out and saying 'well, this guy can't be worse', not out of an earnest desire to play Barnes. They'd prefer a 3&D wing like Dillon Brooks or DFS.

I probably posted this a month ago when I was doing all of those bad Gafford ideas..

Gafford and Hardy to CLT
Martin, Connaughton to Toronto
RJ Barrett, Diabate, CLT 2nds to Dallas

more of a cap reset, but Martin seems like a decent fit for the bench there.. and RJ is eh for Dallas. Dump Prosper somewhere.

Ingram for Jerami Grant and Donovan Clingan?

Portland gets a major offensive boost and clarifies that the future at center is Yang. Toronto gets a younger player Poeltl can mentor.

I like Barrett for Allen/Richards for Toronto but hate it for Phoenix. Can you imagine watching Green and RJ on the same team? If they didn't have Green I would say go for it, so it isn't a value problem, just fit. I struggle with an RJ trade. Maybe the Kings would do DeRozan for RJ and Toronto can just jettison some of that money? Buyout DeRozan, maybe get some seconds from the Kings?

Quickley/Shead
Dick/Walter/Lawson
Agbaji/Battle/Barnes
Barnes/CMB/Mogbo
Poeltl/Clingan

If they can get something for Poeltl it is a reasonable young core to tank with and an okay long-term financial situation.

Sign me up for this.

And because it's that obviously good for Toronto, Portland says no lol.
