i'll do it similar to this but like top 10 instead of top 25. i don't want to get too far into preseason/training camp.

if you guys have another way of doing it, lemme know since its your idea anyway.

Duncan at 11- he's going on 34 years old... Who would value a 34 year old that highly no matter who they are. For example, if I wanted to trade for a big, I would go after Jefferson 10 out of 10 times over Duncan.

Garnett at 17- same as duncan

Oden at 25- two years in the league should mean that he needs to prove something instead of skate by on potential alone.

You're not going to win anything with Jefferson though. Duncan and Garnett are proven first options.

This is trade value. If I had to choose who I would want to lead my team or win this year, I would take duncan or garnett in a heartbeat, but Jefferson is much younger with tons of potential.
I'm aware of that, Duncan and Garnett still have higher value to me. Because unless Jefferson suddenly becomes a willing and able passer, I don't see him winning anything as the 1st or 2nd option.

What I'm saying is that I would rather have a one or two year window to win a title and then rebuild, rather than a 7 or 8 year window of mediocrity, maybe topping out as the 6th or 7th seed in the playoffs. If the ultimate goal is the win a title, I'm not going with Jefferson over Duncan/Garnett no matter how young Jefferson is.

Um...what do you make trades for? I'm fairly sure a large component of trades is to win games. I still maintain that if I team can give up a lot of assets to win a championship next year they're going to. conversely, Al Jefferson wins you a first round appearance or two.

I think DCash hit on it with there being a split between posters, but it goes beyond that, there's a split amongst teams too. Los Angeles and Boston will give anything to win titles. On the other hand, Memphis or Milwaukee have no use for aging stars that would put most teams over the top.
