I believe we should have enough to make the offer without creating space (unless I'm reading Smitty's sheet incorrectly, which is entirely possible).

Here's how I have our space based on a 94 mil cap:

10 guaranteed contracts = $71,014,557.00
2 non-guaranteed contracts picked up = $2,030,931.00
1 cap hold (Mahinmi) = $ 7,600,000.00
Total = $78,614,557.00
Space = $15,385,443.00

Which now that I look at it I must have something wrong because Smitty has our cap space as $11,048,493.00. But either way renouncing Hill should allow us to keep Mahinmi's cap hold and still offer Gordon 12 mil.

Sorry, I saw you wanted to keep Mahinmi and didn't mention Jordan Hill either way.

Unless a player being renounced was specifically mentioned, I include their cap holds on these projections so Hill was on that number.

Ah there's the problem. I noticed Smitty had Jordan Hill already renounced so I neglected to include that.

Phoenix Cap Space...with all the current contracts, including all options/guarantees I exercised, according to this http://www.basketballinsiders.com/phoenix-suns-team-salary/ I had 58.3 million. Now I'm not sure how much the rookie holds are, and I can't tell if those have been worked into Smitty's spreadsheet. But without them, if the cap is approximately $94 million, that leaves me with around $36 million in cap space. I think the rookie holds are probably around $7-$8 million, so that would drop it to $28 or $29 million, but the Tucker/Chandler for Kanter trade shaved about $500K off the books, so it should probably land me with about $29 million in cap space.

The pistons would like to offer a 4 year contract with a team option after year 3 to Mareese Speights(10 Million the first 2 years then 14 million the final 2 years making it a 4 year 48 million dollar contract)

Since this deal wasn't CBA legal and it was just Day 1 with a lot of us having a CBA learning curve, I will allow this contract to be removed and Marreese Speights to remain a free agent, but no more exceptions will be given to agreed contracts.

Can you explain to me why we have a cap hold for Budinger? Leuer? Price? Mirza? All these guys are unrestricted free agents. And since I haven't released these yet, and they are holding my cap space hostage, it seems like it would make sense that no one else could sign them, yet they are unrestricted free agents.

Can you explain to me why we have a cap hold for Budinger? Leuer? Price? Mirza? All these guys are unrestricted free agents. Unless you waive rights to a player then he has a cap hold which enables you to go over teh cap to retain them. Once they sign with another team that cap hold will fall off or you can waive the cap hold, but the cap hold does not give you exclusive negotiating rights. It's simply a tool that allows you to re-sign your own free agents even when you don't have cap space.

I suggest that if you don't have interest in re-signing them or if you plan on using cap space to sign other free agents that you renounce your rights to some or all of your free agents creating cap space for you.
