I think I have gone out of my way to extend you tons of rope. Please don't bait us or I will let you hang yourself. I'd recommend you take a break from this thread for awhile.

Actually before we get to that, I'm going to take a second and correct your 35m figure. It would just be 33m, so 1m more than this year.
And yes, I would like you to explain to me why a series of worse players on 1 year deals is better than a better player on a 3 year deal.
You're directly assuming Rob is going to use that 2017 cap space on a one year deal? Maybe they should've signed Loul Deng or Evan Turner, or kept Harris and lost all flexibility. The Magic aren't going in the same route as the blazers, who locked up Harkless, Crabbe and Turner and killed their future cap space because they dont believe they can attract a great player. The Magic believe they can attract some of the best FAs on the market. They almost got Millsap to sign on a 25 win team. Hennigan knows how to make a great pitch. I'll take the cap space and chance to get a max FA over Harris any day. Green is just there as a placeholder and to provide a scoring punch off the bench.
And what star has Orlando even gotten? Last I checked both Dwight and Howard left. Orlando isn't anymore attractive than Portland, and frankly, I would much prefer to live in Portland if I were an NBA player.

Nope. Just trying to educate those in need. It seems like most NBA fans are ignorant when it comes to the Magic and their plans. Its you guys attacking the Magic, and I'm just explaining why I think you're wrong. Even those that admit they don't follow the Magic still want to trash them. I don't blame them for not watching the Magic, I blame them for acting like they know it all. I'm not overrating the offseason and the Magic though. Both Howard and Smitty have them winning 43-48 games. I have them winning 43. But you can try to paint me as a complete homer. Anyone with a shred of logic will see I've made some good points in this thread.

Nobody is acting like they know it all except for one guy in this thread.
I have had great discussion with both Skin and Blue and White.

2K16? I am still shooting the floating out of bounds running corner 3 in double dribble.
Which was way ahead of its time in identifying the importance of that shot location, if perhaps not exactly the way it would be shot.

You can ask Millsap. The Magic have signed guys like Hill, TMac, Lewis which is a lot more than Portland has done. Anyway these weren't my words. The Blazers GM said he prefers to lock up those players more than having cap space. But just a couple of years ago, Millsap was willing to sign. Vogel chose the Magic over a ton of teams that were chasing him, and frankly I don't really care where you prefer to live LOL.

I never played double dribble. I enjoyed 2k5 with Ben Wallace on the cover. We would always play 12 min quarters, fantasy draft with the best players of all time. 4 Magic Johnsons on one team was great. Small ball before small ball.

Paul Millsap did not sign with the Magic. If being in the conversation and coming in 2nd counts Dallas has signed the following players in free agency:
Deron Williams(the first go around when he really signed with the Nets)
DeAndre Jordan
Mike Conley
Hassan Whiteside
Joe Johnson
Alonzo Mourning
Man the Mavericks must be the premier FA destination because we "almost" signed these guys. No. Either you signed them or you didn't. Odds are Millsap used the Magic as leverage as much as anything. Gasp! And yes that does happen.

And I had a good diussion with the only critic in this thread than has followed the magic, illmatic. On the other hand you have posters like yourself who don't follow the Magic, admit they dont know much about them, and still want to try to debate like they do.

Why did he use the Magic and not the Blazers; Lakers, ect.. MOST teams had the capspace.

Re: Orlando early offseason in review (HW/bondom34/dbrandon/Smitty731/HowardMass)
Their ability to sign a star would seem to hinge largely on the development of guys. If Payton stagnates further in his development, Hezonja still doesn't show much, and Gordon doesn't take a step, then I think Hennigan/Vogel could have an insanely good pitch and guys would opt elsewhere more than likely. Also, it's likely imperative that they get Ibaka committed early.
It's tough enough for any teams (regardless of location) to get a max level guy to sign even with a star level player (believe me, Indy's highest profile free agent acquisition in history is probably David West coming off a major injury or Monta). And for Orlando specifically, I'm not sure dumping Vuc to get space to sign someone whose not a true star who might actually move (like Horford) would be worth it.

Uh because the Magic were interested in signing him and those teams were not. At least not at the money he wanted. He and his agent just needed one other team to get the Hawks to up their offer. There was nothing special about the Magic necessarily.
Now he might have had legit interest in the Magic. Only he and his agent really know. But the bottom line is he signed with the Hawks. And trust me as a fan of a team with cap space every year and the ability to get meetings with the big free agents every summer---a lot of those meetings are simply leverage plays where that player has no serious interest in signing with us.

I want to get back to who, after trading Vuc and Augustin for max cap space, Orlando targets next offseason.

If I had to guess
Hayward - don't see why he'd leave Utah even if Orlando has a great season
Lowry - if Payton doesn't improve maybe?
Jrue - same
Hard to tell. Can't really go after a PF or else you lose Ibaka, probably shouldn't go after a center with Biz and Vuc is better than the unrestricted ones, SF is pretty weak with most unrestricted guys being meh overall, SG is worse on that front, and PG isn't incredible after Paul and Curry.
Personally, unless I could get Hayward, I'd just forgo the max cap space and not lock myself into an older guy possibly with injury concerns.

I've literally never before in my life seen someone see their team being used by a free agent to drive up the price as a badge of pride.
COLANGELO DID IT GUYS!!!! He got both Manu and Crawford to use US as the team to make their current team pay more. The rebuild was all worth it.

Oh so only the Magic and the Hawks were interested in signing a top PF. Makes sense. I'm sure the Blazers prefer Enes Kanter over Millsap.
Millsap himself said Hennigan made him a great pitch.
