I would not be sad if Portland snapped him up. He regressed a bit this season, but the regressions look very fixable and Charlotte was TERRIBLE.

Portland already has a younger version of the Miles Bridges project in Nassir Little. I'd rather Portland continue working on his development. He showed real flashes in his rookie year

I like flipping Little plus some minor something for Bridges. Portland gets a guy who can give them minutes right now and Charlotte picks up more rookie clock and whatever other asset they can squeeze.

His advanced stats are absolutely terrifying. Not many guys, even as young as him, come back to be playoff caliber starters after two years and 0.59 WS48 / -1.2 OBPM / -0.5 DBPM. Specifically scary that when he got more minutes this year his WS dropped all the way to .039. He isnt scaling well.

That Charlotte team was terrible and he was probably being asked to do too much. The number of mid-range (3-10 ft) shots DOUBLED last season at the cost of higher efficiency dunks, lay-ins, etc. He's never going to be a 1st or 2nd option but as a Hustle based, Rim, Running SF he should be fine. His FT% is a better indicator of long term 3pt shooting with the right coaching. He's shot consistently well enough from the 3pt corner to be a weapon in the right offense for spacing.

I wouldn't give up #16 in this draft, but I would consider giving up a future lotto-protected 1st for him.

Miles for a 2021 Lotto Protected 1st + Hezonja would work and would give charlotte another asset to use in a trade up or simply keep.

I could see this as well... I think Bridges got mis-used just looking at his shooting splits, and would have a more structured, happier home in Portland. I would trade Little + 2nd for Bridges.

can't believe NBA has not set the trading date yet, they said 2-3 days before the Nov 18 draft (Wednesday) - that would imply tomorrow or Monday

Ya I don’t get it. It seems like the teams are ready and somewhat frustrated that the league is dragging their feet. What’s the point in not just allowing them to begin?

Seems like the people involved in approving trades are the same people involved in trying to make all the decisions to get the season started, so they probably don't have the time to actually do anything with trades yet

I would IF all of my (rational) targets for Portland are off the board (Bey, Achiuwa, and Nesmith). I wouldn't do this until I was also sure someone like Okoro, Avdija, and Williams didn't have a weird slip like Little did last season.

EDIT: lol short version: I would have the trade ready for when we went on the clock at 16.

We were happy with the direction the team was going before covid. They had started winning a few, beating Houston and Miami in their last 3 games.

Miles had it tough as he was originally meant to be power forward and prepared for that last off season but Washington surprised everyone, so miles shifted to sf. He works his ass off and I didn’t think he regressed at all, he’s making improvements. His fg% went down a bit with higher usage but it looked like he was starting to figure it out.

Um. I'm guessing he will rephrase it as different dates, because this would mean a team could flip a player before the season even begins. Although Woj retweeted it.

Crazy. Could this be the year a team signs someone and flips them almost immediately?

Posted this on the GB but I'm general interested in peoples contract knowledge in here:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2016489

I expect a few contracted players to perhaps not want to put their families at risk by playing this season. Can a contracted player get paid without playing, citing dangerous conditions? Or would they need to retire and relinquish their contract?

As far as I can tell, there’s no opt out provision for this season. The opt out for the bubble was really a unique circumstance that was negotiated just for the bubble last season, not permanently going forward. As such, unless we hear new specific info from Woj or someone about a new opt out provision, a player would either face suspension/fines for not reporting, or a team would have to carry them active on the roster and pay them.

Green is probably the salary filler, but a later first and expiring salary feels about right.

EDIT: The biggest takeaway from this is that Woj and Shams will start reporting deals using fun language similar to that of the draft a couple years ago. Maybe we won't have to wait until noon tomorrow for the fireworks to start.

Schroeder makes 15.5 so someone has to be sent. Green by himself works. KCP, Kuzma, and filler. A lot of options.
