I mean Holmes, Prosper, 2nds is as far as I want to go. He's better than the current version of Grant Williams, but he's not some significant upgrade. And he could be better than Josh Green atm, certainly more consistent, but that just creates a new hole with literally nobody to fill it.

I don't get it at all so I hope this is mostly noise or Charlotte continues to be greedy and Dallas walks away.

I mean it’s subjective literally by definition, but I’d love to hear 10 worse contracts.
In no particular order taking into count age, health and overall goodness or lack there of, as well as price tag.
Lavine
Lonzo Ball
Beal
Brown
Zion
D.Robinson
D.Hunter
Gabe Vincent
Kleber
Grant Williams
Ben Simmons
J.Grant
Williams III
Draymond Green
Wiggins
Bertans

You can certainly make the case that Poole belongs on that list but I don't think he's objectively worse as a contact than any of those per what he brings to the table interma of age, health and what he could do.

In what universe is Jordan Poole a better contract than Zion?!? The Zion hate has gone way too far.

This isn't Zion hate. It's Poole delusion.

Did you just call Pj more consistent? You really don’t know him then, his inconsistency is the main reason I’d trade him.

Oh no.

Green's only real issue at this point is inconsistency. If PJ isn't more consistent then I really want nothing to do with this.

PJ is more consitent than Green. In addition to being inconsistent, Green is also pretty erratic if we're being honest. Whether its low basketball IQ or a lack of confidence, the guy makes some boneheaded moves when he has the ball in his hands and driving to the basket. Its like watching a high school basketball scrimmage

Pj has won games for charlotte one day then been absolutely putrid the next. If Kidd could keep him motivated, he’d be a great fit. I think a deal is going to happen, maybe charlotte cave in, I think they want the cap space

From yesterday’s Charlotte game thread, good summary of pj

JDR720 wrote:PJ's last 5 games.

16pts on 36% shooting.
26pts on 58% shooting.
5pts on 22% shooting
22pts on 56% shooting.
15pts on 43% shooting.

And tonight, 6pts on 11% shooting.

I don't think we've ever had a player this inconsistent. Not even Byron Mullens.

He scored 40 a week or two ago and every other game he shoots under 40%v. Sometimes under 30%.

Zion has an eating disorder in all likelihood, he also clearly has some kind of sex addiction. Even if these are exaggerations he has issues. BB doesn't seem to be a priority. He's injury prone and as his youth leaves that's only gonna get worse. We have already seen him decline. Sure there might be some outs in the deal but I don't see those as likely outs. If the money becomes a non guarantee then that takes him off the list. But for not it's awful.

yup. His path to getting paid is with bird rights. Either through CHA or as a sign and trade this summer, and with Lamelo in shut down territory, he'll have a chance to put up numbers for the rest of the year

Green has the same issue, so Kidd's not really motivating him in that regard. Maybe being back home can give him a little boost. I'd do the trade straight up, and with filler like CUrry if needed.

How does Cha view Cody Martin? A deal they'd like to unload or solid enough to keep? If Dallas is trying to make Cha take Holmes and thats where things are breaking down, then maybe Cody can be added if Cha doesnt want him anymore.

Cody is our best defender, glue man, I think they’re happy to keep him

His last 3 years is already not guaranteed.

If Williamson passes six "weigh-in-checkpoints" during the 2024-25 season -- to pass, his body fat percentage and weight must add up to no more than 295 (i.e. if he weighs in at 285 pounds, he cannot exceed 10% body fat ) -- then 20% of his 2025-26 salary will become guaranteed.

If he plays in at least 41 games in 2024-25, another 40% of his 2025-26 salary will become guaranteed. If he plays in at least 51 games, another 20% would be guaranteed on top of that. If he plays in at least 61 games (and doesn't violate the weight clause), then his entire 2025-26 salary will be guaranteed.

Even if Zion's contract were guaranteed, he's much more valuable than Poole because despite the fact he is immature, Zion by any statistical metric is infinitely better at basketball.

It's not like you can't be an all-timer while having battles with weight (Shaq, Barkley) or bedding a lot of women (Wilt).

I mean, Zion might have less self-control off the court than the typical NBA player (and for most players these days you need amazing self-control to reach the NBA level), but he's also still 23 years old and has been paid something like $80m before endorsements-- the man is enjoying the spoils of being rich while he's young and stupid. He also may be taking it easy and not jumping out of the gym every possession simply to avoid injury. Even if you take away the elite athleticism, Zion has incredible touch around the rim and will be a good player even if his athleticism declines.

Poole has clearly been regressing harder than Zion. Poole went from being a good sixth man on a title team to one of the worst players in the league. And unlike Zion the reasons aren't nearly as addressable, they're not even really identifiable.
