Re: Free Agency, Rumors, Thoughts in General 2.0
Atlanta is back to being a top team in the East. They have solid veterans and good young players who are just starting to show what they can do.
They skipped only 3 postseasons (2018,2019,& 2020) and are back. Eastern Conference will be delightful this season. These 8 teams all seem like locks for the playoffs:
76ers
Bucks
Celtics
Hawks
Heat
Nets
Pacers
Raps
Then there really seems a wide separation, but NBA seasons are both challenging and surprising. Maybe Ball carries the Hornets to the playoffs or Wall returns to make the Wizards respectable again:
Bulls
Cavs
Hornets
Knicks
Magic
Pistons
Wizards
Anyway, watch the Hawks. They never go away for long.

If the Hawks do make the playoffs, three seasons is solid. Schlenk came in with no stars to work with and completely turned the roster over. Bembry was the last hold out from when he was hired. No star or stars to work with makes it really impressive.

Atlanta did almost everything right. Kicked off the rebuild getting a huge steal in Collins, tanked in the loaded 2018 class, moved down for the guy they wanted but stayed in the top 5 for Young, picking up another asset (getting Reddish with that one) in the process. Kept their 2020 books clean but continued to add picks in short term salary dumps. I didn't like the move up for Hunter but hey you can't win them all (and he could still pan out of course, it's only been one year). Then once 2020 rolled around, all the bad salary slid off the books, and they had a nice young nucleus to put some nice vets around. That's a textbook rebuild if the guys like Reddish and Hunter pan out.
Meanwhile in Charlotte..............

How much does Kuzma get offered in FA next season?

$60-72 million / 4 years.
I think he’s closer to MLE money, but this is what I expect.

Atlanta won’t know until later today if Sacramento will match its four-year, $72MM offer sheet to Bogdan Bogdanovic, but the Hawks already stocked their roster with free agent signings Danilo Gallinari, Rajon Rondo and Kris Dunn. Hollinger sees Atlanta as a legitimate playoff threat and suggests the team may be looking to trade John Collins for a starting small forward.

I think he's just looking at the roster and seeing a SF upgrade as the most likely, but I've looked around the league and I'm having a hard time finding a SF to target in a trade.
As much as I love the Gallo signing, I don't see the Hawks pinning their playoffs hopes on a 32 year old oft injured Gallo at PF by trading Collins and like you said I don't see this available SF that makes it worthwhile to trade Collins for.

Clarkson got 52 million to come off the bench. Take in consideration that someone chases him as a starter and you pretty much nailed it in my opinion.

I try!
The other diction change I make when posting is that I avoid using "we" or "our" when discussing Miami. I love the Heat but I am first and foremost a basketball fan. Furthermore, I know I cannot be neutral (I am aware of my homerism), but it's just not in the interest of general discourse. Right? Also, for me what other people think is more interesting than what I think because I already know my opinions (or something like that!)
Pacers fans were right about Oladipo (at least so far). He stayed with the team! Now he will need to work his butt off for the extension. Win-Win.

I hear ya. I definitely have tried to focus on 2 different thoughts. First, what I think Pritchard and the Pacers would do, based on their past history, and what they've talked about the future and second, what I personally think. I try and call out and admit my homerism, but man, some is tough.

We'll see. He might only be a Pacer right now because he just may not have any value on the market. We'll see. He's definitely aloof, and he has terrible representation, but I think that's because good agents won't work with him anymore since he's already fired a bunch of good ones for essentially nothing.

Matthews is better than Green.
Not sure Matthews is better than Green, but there is plenty of evidence that they're about equal value. Last year, Green had a better regular season, while Matthews had a better playoffs.
(And as has been pointed out in other threads, Green has struggled in at least his last 4 playoff appearances, shooting 34%, 25%, 33%, and 34% from 3 in those years.)
2019-20 stats:
https://stathead.com/basketball/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&player_id1_hint=Danny+Green&player_id1_select=Danny+Green&player_id1=greenda02&idx=bbr__players&p1yrfrom=2020&player_id2_hint=Wesley+Matthews&player_id2_select=Wesley+Matthews&player_id2=matthwe02&idx=bbr__players&p2yrfrom=2020
Highlights:
Regular Season 3p %: Matthews 36.4%, Green 36.7%
Regular Season OBPM/DBPM/BPM: Matthews -2.6/.7/-1.8, Green -1.5, .5, 1.1
Regular Season TS%: Matthews .55, Green .55
Playoffs 3p%: Matthews 39.5%, Green 33.9%
Playoffs OBPM/DBPM/BPM: Matthews -1.6/1.7/.2, Green -1.2/.5/-.7
Playoffs TS%: Matthews .596, Green .473
I think it's fair to say that in swapping Green for Matthews, the Lakers got essentially the same player, but saved $11.5mil.
OTOH, Wes has never been in a situation where fans send his family death threats if he has a bad game. So maybe he gets rattled.
Green at his peak was better than Matthews, but he has a lot of mileage on him. He played like ass in the playoffs. Matthews is a big step above the level that Green was at in the playoffs. Better shooter and better at defending guards, about equal at defending wings like Butler.
still learning the game

Fake 2nd. Goodwill move. Probably not bad to be owed a favor by a guy with a million draft picks and gobs of future cap space.

Atlanta is getting some cash. I wondered the same thing and had to go look.
The Atlanta Hawks have acquired forward Danilo Gallinari (da-KNEE-lo gal-in-ARE-ee) and cash considerations from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for a conditional 2025 second-round pick in a sign-and-trade transaction, the team announced today.
