Jason Kidd’s agent must be crazy awesome. I can’t imagine him getting any of these open coaching spots.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

If D'Antoni is hired
a) Dame is out
b) 3rd time he has kicked Melo off a team
c) Stephen A will play race card... and actually be right this time.

For the Blazers it's simple. Dame says "I want Kidd or Billups, Kidd is my 1A"
Kidd says "don't consider me"

Blazers should still offer him the job at top HC $ and give him a new car with a breathalizer in it. Better yet a chauffer/body guard/human barrier in case he and his wife get in an argument. Dame has been good soldier, he says jump, you say "how high".

If Kidd refuses, make it public and offer Billups a contract.

If you want to hire a Mike D'Antoni or some non-dame approved coach, just trade him. Send him to Celtics for Kemba, Brown, all the picks they can muster. Celtics can figure out what they want to do around Lillard-Smart-Tatum and cap space.
Then Celtics can hire Billups (former Celtic player)

Giannis, Lillard, LeBron all like him. If top-10 players want to play for the guy, you sign him and let him recruit/collude/cheat via his agent. If anyone asks about it:

Just one thing... in the recent drafts, non-top 5 lottery picks aren't commonly traded. I was having trouble finding the right player valued for a non-top 5 lottery pick and it's probably more likely due to the fact that those kind of deals aren't common especially in the modern NBA where draft picks and rookie contracts are king.

Trades Involving Lottery Picks Not Including Top 5 Pick Trades
2020
None

2019
Suns/T'Wolves: Dario Saric and 11th Overall for 6th Overall

2018
Suns/76ers: 10th Overall for 16th Overall and 2021 Miami Heat 1st (via Phoenix)
Clippers/Hornets: 11th Overall for 12th Overall and two future second round draft picks

2017
Jazz/Nuggets: 13th Overall for Trey Lyles and 24th Overall
Bulls/T'Wolves: Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and 7th Overall for Jimmy Butler and 16th Overall
Trail Blazers/Kings: 10th Overall for 15th Overall and 20th Overall

You have to go back to Butler in 2017 to get to a significant draft trade involving picks 6-14. More likely you see pick swaps and guys like Trey Lyles (2017 off-season version) and Dario Saric (2019 off-season version) traded to move up more so than a significant player. In an off-season where there aren't any clear-cut firesales or pretty agreed upon stars available, maybe we won't see a ton of trade activity early in the draft involving vet for pick type of deals.

Simmons needs his own team, he just can't play with Embiid

The Kevin Love deal is finally done. The Minnesota Timberwolves have sent the superstar power forward to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for a package headlined by 2014 No. 1 overall draft pick Andrew Wiggins. It's a three-way trade involving the Philadelphia 76ers.

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/kevin-love-traded-to-cavs-andrew-wiggins-to-wolves-in-3-team-deal/

The Boston Celtics acquired guard Ray Allen from the Seattle Supersonics on Thursday night for Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak and the rights to the 2007 NBA Draft's No. 5 overall pick -- Georgetown forward Jeff Green. Boston also gets the rights to the Sonics' 35th pick -- LSU's Glen Davis.

https://www.espn.com/nba/draft2007/news/story?id=2920183

It requires a team with a superstar wanting to tear down and a team obtaining a superstar to think that they can form a super-team. It is not usual when a team with a top-5 team has a realistic chance at being a super-team so it's really only when a team is about to sign a big name, has a big name coming off of injury, or, in this years case, the Warriors.

Warriors could easily stand pat and just say to themselves "hey, we have Klay and Steph, Wiseman is developing and under contract so his salary is fixed as long as Draymond is, and our next pick will be cap friendly past that..." Or they could say "you know what would make this year more worth it? Wiggins + pick for an all-star"

Yeah, a top 5 pick has more precedent to be traded, but the 6-14 range in recent years has not been as active in recent years.

Ahh, I get your point. Next time I should read lol. I will say it is always situational. The parts have to be all right. Star player being traded is somewhat uncommon. Leaving via FA, traded at deadline because they are going to walk/demand a trade are common. You don't usually want to trade a lotto pick (even late lotto) for a role guy because in a few years the value is going to be skewed and if you are picking in those slots you a) have a good enough team where you can wait on a guy because the pick isn't even yours, or b) your team isn't good enough to want/need an experienced role player. Are the Bulls going to trade draft day for RoCo? unlikely.

Now if Pacers do un-pacer-like things and sign JKidd as HC and Lillard demands to go there all before the draft happens... Then maybe its a small part of a package.

Saw there were 6 openings and tried to remember them all.

Forgot about the Celtics. Might just be me, but how much upheaval is needed to make that one forgotten?

Crazy offseason so far.

I assume the Presti thing is true now that Nelson is out. The other one is obviously a joke about how many people have been fired : )

I assume the second part is a joke, because it's certainly not true.

The Presti part could be. He's been there for 14 years (!).

Still think Riley is longer right? I think it was mostly just a joke for an OKC audience.

Pretty sure Presti started before that random year Van Gundy quit and Riley took over as coach.

2 questions:

1) Would New Orleans be interested in a SnT of Oubre for Adams with no other significant value added?

2) What would Memphis be willing to add to an Anderson/Bane for Wiseman swap?

Yes for both IMO.

However, will GSW be willing to pay $100m more tax than they did this.season. That's what you're effectively asking them to do here.

I'm not sure how yes answers the 2nd one, lol.

But yeah, I could imagine GS looking for other ways to save money for sure. I just like Adams :)
