I wonder if the Kings saw how bad Smith had been and how few teams wanted him and just smelled blood in the water. It's hard to think that the Pistons wouldn't come back to the Kings before releasing him. Kings probably said "oh, that deals off the table--now you need to add a 1st and take garbage". Sadly it looks like they may have overplayed their hand and will almost certainly "lose" out to Smith to another team.

I'm wondering if Pete thought they'd waive him if not take their offer now.

Interested in seeing what happens with Smith now almost as much as the trade speculations.

I guess this means they have full intention of re-signing Monroe then?

And who picks up Smith I guess is the next question.

Yeah this is a shocker to me. I'm betting he clears waivers and signs with Miami. I cannot believe that no team would take him for chump chang. There are just not that many bad contracts anymore. Smith was one of the worst.

Chuck Texas wrote:That's pretty incredible. But props to Pistons ownership for being will to eat that kind of money if they believe this to be an addition by subtraction move.

Curious who picks him up.

Stan was just sick of seeing that "Josh Smith for Gerald Wallace" trade on this forum.

I think JS is going to either HOU, DAL or LAL

Kobe likes having "star" players around him, Rondo and Dwight are buddies with him.
