For
Noel, Covington
While I'm not a huge fan of Ross or moving RoCo, this seems to be the best value so far.
I'd be interested to see what that deal looks like without Covington involved. I prefer him to every individual piece coming back. Ross is really the only piece I actually value coming back here.
Bebe has officially become our backup C, getting regular minutes on a daily basis on a eastern contender. Putting up very decent numbers, if you look at advanced stats. He was just begging for playing time to prove himself.
And this may sound like im biased, but believe me when i say Delon Wright is the same way. He has potential to be really good but is trapped behind our depth chart (Lowry/Cojo). Very mature player for his age.
I truly believe Delon Wright can easily become your starting PG if given the chance (Yes he has potential to be that good). If you dont believe me, ask other raptor fans on our board. There are a lot that want trade joseph and make Delon our permanent backup.

If you don't need the potential production, let someone else carry the downside risk of injury or character this year. Surely a "closer look" is not worth a pick, unless you have no faith in your scouting department. If Noel suddenly becomes so amazing that you want to have him, overpay with cap space. Even if someone outbids your price point, you lost out on player that was more than you would pay, and kept your pick.
It's not just about fit. It's about handling your risk, and it's about how an expiring RFA contract works.
Because I'd (if I was the Wolves) would be willing to risk the chance of being able to re-sign him in the off-season. I don't think the Wolves are going to be a prime FA location so I'd want to give myself the opportunity to outbid the competition if it came to that.
You have a "chance to sign him" whether he was on your team or not. He is a free agent.
Owning his RFA rights only give you the opportunity to match the highest of 20 teams offers. If that number happens to still be a good deal, you could offer him that money whether he was on your team or not.
You're from TOR. Do you thnk Biyombo showed so little in the playoffs, that your team wouldn't have liked to keep him? However, ORL's offer was way too expensive for your team, and they smartly concluded to not exercise their RFA right to match. Do you think none of the 20 teams with cap space would offer Noel a big contract if he happens to perform well?

What would it take to get Powell instead of Wright? There's little interest in Wright due to the abundance of high quality PG prospects in this year's draft (Fultz, Ball, Monk, DSJ). There's about a 90% chance we come out of the draft with one of those 4 players, so trading for a PG that projects as a backup doesn't generate a lot of interest.
Would Noel & Covington for Powell & LAC 1st be something you'd consider?

FYI -- the Raps didn't have his restricted rights. Charlotte actually lifted his QO the year before making him a UFA and he settled for a tiny offer from the Raps. So the Raps needed cap space to sign Biyombo.
Whether or not they would have been willing to pay what Orlando did obviously IDK, but they didn't actually have the option.

Toronto didn't have his bird rights. We didn't have the option to match.
Free agents aren't exactly lining up to play in Minnesota. Improving your chances to re-sign him including getting to know your core, playing with them, travelling with them, hanging out with them.

This place is insufferable.

Thanks guys, I didn't know that. Feel free to include a different example where a team put an overpriced deal on a free agent. Might need to go baxk to last year.
Btw, do you think it's a good idea for MIN to use Bird Rights to force Noel to stay on a team where he doesn't want to be?

Certainly something Masai and Casey would consider. I don't have a particular preference for Ross or Powell as players they just happen to both fill the same role in the team. I think ore spare parts would need to be added to make salaries work though.

Oh boy thats a tough one. Powell is beloved by raptors fans, including myself. Raptor fans see Powell as a future All-star (No joke)...including myself.
One of the reasons people want to get rid of Ross, is so it free's up time for Powell. Value wise it doesnt look so bad. So..i dont know lol

I suppose it depends on the level of production he might show. If you're having to use his bird rights to retain a max level production value player, I'm signing him to see if things cant be worked out.

This place is insufferable.

So you're saying take those 2 out and we keep Covington then?

Bebe would be buried here and Wright's an unproven guy who's skillset doesnt really match what the Sixers would be looking for.
I didnt mean to imply these guys are worthless in general, I just dont see them having value to the Sixers.

Fair enough. Last i heard, was that Philly was looking for a PG. Hence I included Wright.
Ross + Bebe
for
Noel + Stauskas
I feel like there is a pick involved somewhere, but I dont know from which team. But that would be my base of the deal. Would you do that?

Re: Noel to <your team>
I'd change the Suns offer to Philly's choice of Knight or Len + 2nd.
Len IMO is more valuable in trade, but Knight is more useful to PHI.
I think they would take Knight and be done with it, but they'd have some choice.
Sounds like the tunes of a lot of Philly fans have changed dramatically through the first few months of this season.
Noel has gone from being worth a guaranteed lotto first or more, to people liking trades like Rozier + protected 1st 3 years from now.
I like it, because that means people are actually understanding and accounting for the reality.
I hate seeing threads where people are STILL proposing Phi should be getting things like 2 first round picks for Noel. I think that's so far from reality it just kills discussion because anyone that's not a Philly fan just laughs at it.

Bebe will be buried behind Okafor and Holmes on Philly's depth chart. Noel is being traded to relieve the log-jam, not replace it. So it's basically Ross for Noel, in which case I'd rather have the POR pick. Replace Bebe with a pick or two and it becomes a more attractive offer.
