Please tell me how this isn't God awful for Milwaukee. Who in the world came anywhere near this type of package where Milwaukee felt this is what they had to give up?

7 spots as of today and pushing a pick back 1 year for Tucker and Kuruks? I woulda asked for House, but this is the kind of shifty move a team like Milwaukee needed to make to improve the front court. Watch out for the Tucker resurgence.

I agree with all this.

Oh god not this debate again. No, a first is always worth more than a second. You have a wider selection of players and its very rare that the (two year only) guaranteed contract is negative.
When your tight up against the hard cap guaranteed $$$$ for an unknown is not a positive. Honestly late first early 2nd is a crap shoot anyway.

Man I'd have been intrigued by this return for Thad Young, who is about 5 times the better player that Tucker is at this stage. The Bucks are wildly frivolous giving away their 1sts.

Oh, and then the obvious, PJ Tucker, who gives them a matchup piece and small ball 5 option. He was going to be a good add for any playoff team, plus this keeps him off the Nets and Sixers.

Except Tucker doesn't appear to be even half the player he used to be.

If these are the going rates... I kinda want the Sixers to be sellers. Two firsts for Danny Green anyone?

Got a solid rotation piece and out of the tax for swapping their '23 1st for their '22 1st and a 2nd. :dontknow:

I don't think MIL is completely out of the tax. It looks like they are still about 1M in, no?

Also not sure Tucker isn't washed and HOU had pulled him awaiting trade.

I'm impressed at Milwaukee's creativity in finding new and exciting ways to give away FRPs.

I like the idea of getting picks from both Bucks and Nets. Both can't dominate the East at the same time. Two great team makes one imploding more likely. Plus the Sixers are quite good, for now.

I believe the 2022 1st that was given back to the Bucks was unprotected. Moving the year back one year just means one more year for Giannis' to ask for a trade.

32-33 pick for 24-28 pick swap is good value for Tucker, who is old and washed.

So there are just a few of posting itt who don't mind it for the Bucks -- I counted 4 but probably missed one or two. So if Tucker is truly washed I'll host the crow eating party.

However, if we are right and dropping a few spots in the draft is worth picking up a guy who likely closes playoff games for them and he helps, there is going to be a huge banquet. Crow suppliers giddy thinking about potential profits.

I think people see 1st round pick and Tucker's statline and knee jerk hate it. But pizzaguy broke this deal down pretty logically and the value isn't bad for the Bucks at all unless Tucker can't play at all, but I just do not believe that to be the case. And dumping Augustin's money is a bit of Bucks value largely getting ignored.

Any Rockets trade with the word unprotected in it works for me.

Correct - dumping Augustin was a very important part of this trade and should be recognized. I have trouble giving Milwaukee credit for it only because they made the big mistake of signing him to a 3 year $21 mil contract in the offseason. Btw, I'd love for you to be right about Tucker, but the guy is 35/36 - that's when he should fall off a cliff as a player, and that's what the stats show - for the 2nd straight year. There's just no reason to believe the stats are wrong or misleading - in this case. It's not easy being right all the time. You are so lucky to not have that burden.

The only way this is a bad deal for Milwaukee is if Giannis misses the entire 2023 season, other than that, I love this for Milwaukee, even if PJ Tucker doesn't even play at all.

They dumped Augustine contract (and that's an awful contract) they got out of the LT, they got back an early 2nd, and all they gave up was a late 1st.

The 2021 for 2023 1st could be bad if Giannis misses a lot of time in 2023, other than that, they'll still be a playoff team, and that will likely be a late 1st, probably in the same range the 2021 1st will be, so it's irrelevant.

So I have Milwaukee as big winners of this deal. If PJ Tucker help them in the playoffs, this is an absolutely steal.

You need as many guys as possible who can guard the big wings of the NBA. That’s part of the allure for MIL. Save some energy for Giannis & Middleton who have to also carry the offensive loads.

Idk about the unprotected part. That’s always scary to have out there as anything can happen

I thought the Craig portion got them there, but it looks like you're right? Maybe there's another small move to get them there?

Clearing the Augustine deal might give them the flexibility to stay under next year depending on what Jrue's next deal looks like.

I also somehow missed the 1st for a 2nd swap.

Still... While it's certainly a risky play for the Bucks, it's not likely to amount to a ton of value in terms of draft capitol. I get why they'd do it.

Flip side, it's an amazing get for the Rockets.

Bucks dumped future money for Augustin and a RFA cap hold to Wilson down the road. Also dumped Craig. So a 3 for 2. Extra spot for the Bucks for a buyout. Also Bucks get their own First round pick back to maybe bundle in a bigger trade later? Lopez and DDV out the door with that pick?

So the deal is...

Houston Rockets get:
D.J. Augustin
D.J. Wilson
2021 Milwaukee Bucks First Round Draft Pick
2023 Milwaukee Bucks First Round Draft Pick

Milwaukee Bucks get:
P.J. Tucker
Rodions Kurucs
2021 Houston Rockets Second Round Draft Pick
2022 Milwaukee Bucks First Round Draft Pick

??? Seems like a wash on the court with Houston upgrading 2021 picks.
