There is no way CP3/Booker/Beal/KD make any bit of sense.lmao
Theyre more likely gonna be forced to waive and stretch him. Not sure how much you can get for Paul's 30 mill when they have no assets to attach to it. Maybe a team like Atlanta takes the oppurtunity to get off Collins contract and swaps him straight up for Paul? It would be a disgusting cap situation for PHX, but pursuing Beal means theyre ok with that
I honestly don't understand Phx thinking on this.
It's clear as day they need quality role players. Trading for Beal just puts them in the same situation as last year.
There is no way Booker/KD/Beal will be healthy come playoff time. They would have to play heavy minutes in the regular season just to have a decent record for seeding.
I would be trying to package CP3 and Ayton for role players.

CP can be stretched over 5 years at $3.2M per. Vet minimums over 3 years will count $1.98M against the cap. Second round picks and undrafted guys are less. Also have Ish Smith at $1.9M currently on the roster.
KD/Booker/Beal/Payne/Smith = $142M
First apron is +/-$168M
Suns room = +/-$26M for 8 or 9 players.
That is 3 million a player for those 9 spots. It’s essentially vet minimum level dudes rounding out the rosters
Say they sign two players for the MLE and one for the BAE. That’s $16.5M + $142M = $158.5M for nine players. That leaves $9.5M for 5 guys. It gets tight but they will have room to fill out the roster. And that’s if the deal is Ayton/Shamet for Beal. Might be different.
That does hard cap them at 179.5. So they would have to have a few rookie minimums to make that work.

Less credible updates:
Yeah I like this deal better for Wiz.
Lowry, Oladipo, Jovic, 18, MIA27FRP
That's the winning package if offered by Heat. Wiz get expirings and a couple young players next season. They tank hard.
Only way they take Ayton is if they really believe he could expand his game on another team
I think the Suns offer will be straight salary dump. Like I said in an earlier post, Washington can operate below the cap easily. If they don’t need to aggregate the salary they can take back CP with o my $15.8M guaranteed. Waive home and see if there is anything available for Shamet. Saves them over $20M this season and $160M Over the next three years.

It hard caps them at $168M if they use the non tax MLE. If Beal ends up in PHX, I don’t think that’s the way this is playing tho.

I would let Beal rot on the bench before I’d trade him for Chris Paul and Landry Shamet.

This seems like misdirection. Haynes is being used a bit I think.

Well, they shouldn’t. The fit is not good. And with a guy paid like that you probably don’t want him to be duplicative of your best player.
I don't agree with that. Beal is a plug and play type of player. He's not ball dominant, and he can play both guard spots. Him and Booker can absolutely play off each other.
Okay, but Beal-Booker-Durant all have the exact same playstyle and Beal and Durant are not good at defense right now.
The Suns will have basically no room to fit ball handlers and defenders around them.
Durant not good at defense??

Would not be surprised if the wiz get less than they would have if they just sign and traded him last year

But but “loyalty”
Very good player (when available) but Hall of Fame contract.
Maybe, he’ll take out a full page thanking the fans (written by his management)…that’ll fix everything

If he doesn’t like the damage to the roster (by the return for him), he can reject. Then Riley says, “sorry guys- it’s him, not me” and WAS either is stuck or accepts a crappy deal. Hostage situation

Then wiz just keep him. Seems easy enough

Not me. I already made the mistake when I gave him this contract having learned nothing from John Wall. Now if I can just punt most of it off, I'm pretty thrilled about it.

Yeah that would just leave them stuck with his gigantic salary. Not like his value would get better from getting older and not playingTexas Chuck wrote:MoneyTalks41890 wrote:I would let Beal rot on the bench before I’d trade him for Chris Paul and Landry Shamet.

Another piece of leverage to consider is Dame Lillard. With Miami being high up on Dame's list, getting Beal moved to Miami (and if it's about a salary dump and first round picks, Miami clearly beat Phoenix on that front) before Dame asks out seems imperative to me.

Durant is a very good defender
But a team's D is compromised by any weak defender, and a team is usually as good as the weakest link in its top 7-8.
If the Suns are paying around $140M for KD-Booker-Beal, they're going to have to have min-salary guys playing big minutes. Also, they will be really vulnerable to any injury.
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

The point is that he doesn't want that either. You use that to ensure he doesn't capitulate his own trade to a contender

Re: Shams: Suns and Heat Finalist for Beal
I think this trade ends up being CP (fully guaranteed) and Shamet.
If Beal is really demanding Ayton not be in the real? It’s clear Phoenix is his preferred and he can just block any potential Miami deal.
Up to the Wiz GM to figure out how much he wants off that contract. If hes willing to accept a salary dump. He just might be
