New Orleans could definitely use a player like Donte. They somewhat lack a PG/SG POA defender if they move Alvarado.

You described Dejounte Murray, no? At least he once was that guy. Alvarado was a healthy DNP yesterday

Didn’t even know Splitter was a coach. Seems like one of those things where maybe he never gives the job back.

Embiid + 28/30/32 for Lauri/Nurkic

Jazz eat Embiids contract (medical retirement?), Sixers retool around their two young awesome guards.

The Sixers can’t trade the ‘28 pick and maybe the ‘30 depending on results and lottery luck. There’s a protected pick owed to OKC and then Brooklyn.

Also it’s a hard no on the whole concept for the Sixers. But at least check pick availabilities and make it theoretically possible.

Even if all of those picks were available no team would do this. The Embiid extension is the worst unforced error by an NBA GM in the history of the league. No one is taking on $200MM in dead money that must stay on their cap per the CBA:

Only the Team with which the player was under Contract at the time his career-ending injury or illness became known or reasonably should have become known shall be permitted to apply to have the player’s Salary excluded from Team Salary...

I would have signed the contract. Obviously I would have been wrong, but in almost all cases MVP level players are movable and don’t end up in this. You are not going to see me advocating for teams to turn down locking up players that high on the pecking order.

But hard agree Utah doesn’t do it either. If medical retirement was even on the table, the Sixers don’t pay to dump it. So there’s no out for the Jazz. Lauri was a target because of the incredible fit with Embiid. It works for no one from any angle.

Murray is a worse shooter and hasn't proven he is up for the defensive assignments since leaving San Antonio.

If he was in his last contract year and coming off a healthy season then I'd agree that it would have been worth pursuing, but having turned 30 with his injury plagued history (both longstanding and immediately preceding) and at two years left on the existing deal it was unquestionably foolhardy in my view. But if everyone here agreed all the time this would be a boring place.

How far a trade involving Reaves+Vando for PJ Washington+Marshall+Christie would be? Lakers sacrifice their second ball handler and best player on the trade to get a needed depht on the wings, hoping for Lebron to hold during season. Dallas would get a guy to help with scoring and creation while being young enough to play with Flagg during his first years.

Doncic/Vincent
Marshall/Christie
Lebron/Laravia
PJ/Rui
Ayton/

Irving/Reaves/Dlo
Reaves/Thompson
Flagg/Vando
Davis/Flagg
Lively/Gafford.

Why does everyone want the Lakers to trade Reaves? The Lakers lack playmaking outside of LeBron (who knows what he will actually be this year?) and Luka.

Think laker path forward would be trying to turn Gabe, vandy and maxi contract into a rotation player or 2. Target somebody like Patrick Williams.

Lauri looks healthy this year so I think his trade value will be pretty decent by December 15th. Spurs are the most obvious destination, but we'll see how it goes. Pistons could obviously be interested though he makes their cap situation weird.

Most obvious trades are

Spurs/Pistons get: Lauri
Jazz get: Matching salary, Castle/Ausar

But I don't know if the Spurs or Pistons would be willing to give up Castle or Ausar and I don't think the Jazz even like those guys either so a third team would have to be involved even if the Spurs or Pistons were willing to pull the trigger.

I dont think lakers fans want to trade him. But realize they kinda have to. Your post kinda says it. They have luka and lebron as playmakers, while having huge holes everywhere else in the team. Reaves being the only one with any reasonable value would have to go to land a starting level player

I would love the Kings to pull this off with their glut of guards. Swapping Naz and Monk makes sense for both sides so Sac can finally have a PF, and one that stretches the floor is the perfect fit. Hate to lose Monk but I don’t think another guard does it (talent or salary wise), and I would happily open up time for Keon Ellis who for some reason Kings coaches refuse to play significant minutes.

Monk isn't a point guard.

He has experience playing off ball and is a better option than what wolves have currently.

Not to mention that he has been very successful in Sacramento in the PG role for stints off the bench, especially running pick and roll, which I’m sure would look very good with Gobert.

The Magic pushed all of their chips in based on the bet that Banchero (who has been between the 15th and 25th best PF in the NBA every year in his career) would become a star this year.

... It's 3 games, of course, but it has not been a good start.

I have been reamed for my opinions on Paolo but I stand by them. Tons of potential, not there yet, could get there, but the likelihood he becomes anywhere close to an MVP candidate is slipping.
