This isn't hiring Scott Skiles or Jim Boylen without looking at minority candidates. This is Rick freaking Carlisle. And he wants a dog and pony show? Nah man this aint it.

Yup. Plus Indy knows Shaw well as he was with the team as an assistant for a few years. I cannot imagine the phone interview was anything underhanded or with solely the intent to check some sort of unspoken quota.

And it totally misses the point that Indy didn't do interviews with anyone else either. By all accounts, there was nothing with Stotts or Clifford. I hope Spears brings the same energy when we re-sign Doug at 12:01 again in free agency and don't "consider" bringing back Jakarr Sampson.

From Donnie to Finley and Rick to JKidd, eh? I really liked Donnie Nelson, but I can definitely be talked into new blood, though sort of existing blood really. But whatever, I'm fine with Finley getting elevated.

This Kidd thing really surprises me and tells me that maybe Dirk has a stronger voice than I thought he did, because this reeks of Dirk who thinks very highly of Kidd's basketball intelligence---as do I fwiw, its his people skills we have to hope have really really improved and some humbling has gone on.

Not excited, but trying not to overreact if this is really what we are getting.

Hey it could be worse. Instead of having the best player in the league you could be on the losing end of 76% odds

Stein says in contract talks now with Kidd so guessing its pretty much done. And PBO has to be Finley, right? Can't be Dirk though that would be a wild twist. And I've literally been wrong about everything else so...

I don't think I share your optimism about this. The idea of Jason Kidd with a rookie executive is scary to me. Clearly there was some level of dysfunction in the organization last year. I think they need a clear leader who everyone knows has the ultimate power. Kidd seems to invite conflict so you can easily see him getting into a power struggle with a relatively inexperienced GM.

Like it's more likely than not to be fine but why take the risk heading into key Luka years?

There is no optimism. There is resignation.

And I think its crystal clear there is one leader now and its Mark Cuban. And that is a bad thing. I can't be optimistic about that part.

Just trying to tell myself Kidd has to have learned some things and probably found at least a bit of humility since he was last a head coach. Or he hasn't and its going to be an epic disaster.

Tim now saying Finley is staying but unclear if he's getting Donnie's old job.

I realize nobody but me cares about all these updates lol so I'll stop.

Okay this update matters. Not Finley, but some Nike executive named Nico Harrison. Yes with Luka ties.

LOL a shoe guy running basketball operations. What are we even doing?

I mean this has all kinds of ugly potential given the cap space Dallas has, the idea is free agency and the 2021 free agency class is uhhh... well it seems like there's going to be some ugly money spent in Dallas if free agency is the plan here.

Worse. Because on some level Dolan knows he's too stupid to really run a team so he just hires terrible people and signs off on terrible decisions and hey every once in a while you accidentally hire someone competent.

Cuban is convinced he's better at this than anyone else so he can just hire he and Luka's buddies and have fun at the club after the games and whatever....

I mean maybe this will work. The usual media guys are sure talking this Nico guy up(I've never heard of him), but what does it matter if Cuban is just making all the decisions anyway?

And what is the deal with Harlabob? The fact that we've heard nothing about him being the big story makes me assume he's sticking around and Cuban just doesn't want to announce it while the heat was on. If he was part of the purge he would have been sure to let us know.

So Finley and Mosley just get nothing. I guess Finley keeps his job. Mosley just gets screwed and his old boss shills for the other guy so that can't help him get a head job elsewhere. This doesn't help recruit good talent.

The worst owner in sports, Mark Cuban. Kidd is one of the worst possible choices. No idea who this shoe guy is. Only one worse is Gambling Bob, who is probably staying also
