Boston has to shed so much salary just to make that trade, that I don't think they have the depth left without Tatum to make this worth doing. And they'd just as soon still have Brown as KD when Tatum is back in a year.

KD just seems like a perfect player for the Boston system. Better than Brown and Celtics need a PF.

I mean it could tie in to a Jrue/KP trade.

The Celtics can't compete next year and next year might be Durant's last relevant year, the fit is terrible.

Another random one not worth a thread.

Gafford, Demar, Martin, Klay, Hardy, Powell, 2026 Sac, 2027 SAS first to Utah
Sexton, Lauri to Sacramento
LaVine to Dallas

Sac gets younger and better.

Utah gets two unprotected firsts. Assume you can find a home for Gafford, Demar and Martin pretty easily.. Utah likes dealing with LAL, Gaff/Klay make a lot of sense there..

Dallas gets an offensive guard.. staying under the second apron likely means finding some second round pick contracts to fill the back of the bench. Or moving on from one of Naji/PJ.

Sacramento is my favorite target for Lauri. If we can get their 2026 pick I think that is a lottery pick. They'll have a fun team, but they'll be competing with every Western Conference team except Utah for the playoffs and they are more than a top 30-40 player away from being a playoff team.

Thats too much for Lauir, imo. 2 unprotected 1sts for a guy who was pretty bad last year on a big contract is kind of crazy, no? I get that Ainge will want to be paid for what Lauri did 2 years ago and to ignore last year, but im not sure why teams would ignore it. In an 8 year career, he's had what, 1 star caliber season? Is that enough for 2 unprotected picks, 1 of them from a SAC team that will be favoured to miss the playoffs next year?

I'd go top 8-10 protection on the SAC pick and leave the other one unprotected, and i still think thats a lot as UTA isnt really eating any bad money (besides Hardy, but he makes baby money). I just dont think SAC can give up the 2026 pick unprotected...theyre too far away to do that for a player who might not be a star.

But Dallas won't trade AD.

New front office have said the opposite, they are happy to be slowly building their own "culture".

attendance isn't terrible, they aren't rushing anything.

Pretty easily two all star caliber seasons. I would not do the deal without an unprotected Kings pick.

Utah reporters are saying that Kessler is NOT on the market and that he would be the hardest player on the roster to get. I am assuming this was Lakers Nation or one of their affiliated channels (e.g., the one with Smitty). I've noticed some exaggerated video titles with them lately, kind of disappointing.

0 chance CHI trades for Lauri, it didn't end well last time and it's the same FO and coach...

Don't know its all over the net saying both Kessler/Lauri on the market, seems like Utah don't want to pay Kesslers next contract by the sounds of things, guess we'll see.

I don't think Kessler is on the market. Tony Jones has said he isn't and no one has been historically more plugged in to what Utah is doing.

Pretty easily two all star caliber seasons. I would not do the deal without an unprotected Kings pick.

Sure, i can get behind 2 AS seasons. Still dont see that being worth 2 unprotected picks, especially when his most recent season was so underwhelming.

I think that is reasonable, but, if it isn't the Kings own pick that is unprotected I'd walk away. I have tremendous faith in their ability to make terrible decisions.

phoenix out: beal, 29
phoenix in: Holiday, Williams

Boston out: Holiday, 28
Boston in: Rozier

Chicago out: Williams, Carter, 12
Chicago in: Wiggins, 20

Miami trade: wiggins, rozier, 20
Miami receive: Beal, carter, 12, 28, 29

Why for Phoenix: turn beal into a pg and forward
why for boston: save money
why for chicago: trade back to upgrade their SF and get out of williams' deal
why for Miami: give up on 2026 plan, go for 2027 FA instead and along the way pick up some picks
why for beal: who doesnt like south beach

I think if chicago is trading for Lauri they would keep coby to try to win. simplify it to

Utah out: Lauri, 21
Utah in: Williams, Huerter, Ayo, 9, POR 2026 LP 1st

Toronto out: 9
Toronto in: 12, 21

Chicago out: Ayo, Huerter, Williams, 12, POR 2026 LP 1st
Chicago in: Lauri

I've been contemplating an idea based around Rudy Gobert for Jaren Jackson Jr earlier in the offseason, and the Zach Edey injury has made me think about it again. Memphis seems like it might be hesitant to extend Jackson, but I do think they want to stay competitive. Gobert would be a big help on the back line covering up for a subpar defensive backcourt.
