I wish I had some firm details for you, but it appears per espndallas.com writer Tim MacMahon that his deal only has a little bit of gtd money and that he will be fighting to make the team. I'm assuming he and Eric Griffin are fighting for one spot at this point, tho its possible I suppose that Dallas does something with Gal Mekel if both impress.

I agree. I think it is between Johnson and Griffin. But I could also see them just eating Mekel's money if they had to.

Is James really not fully gtd? I know initial reports said the whole deal was gtd which seemed surprising so that would make sense if it wasnt.

From what I have seen it was a non-guaranteed deal. I haven't seen anything official yet, but I've read it enough place to believe it is non-guaranteed.

FYI--- Tim MacMahon of espndallas is reporting that James is fully gtd.
"Center Bernard James’ deal to return to the Dallas Mavericks is official, the team announced Wednesday.
James signed a one-year deal for the veteran’s minimum. He is the 15th player on the roster with a fully guaranteed deal for next season."
