We're losing a guy, likely one of the Holidays. Too many ok players/prospects on the team.

That’s rough. Surprised to see Justin on the list over Sumner/Brissett

Yeah it could be a toss up. Both Sumner and Brissett are super cheap though and showed flashes. If either are unprotected, I'd expect them to be picked. Justin might not, though he'd be a good vet wing for the first 2 years of the new franchise. My guess would be we lose Aaron here and he's the one that has the least defined role forward for us.

Interesting. My lay perspective is that I would take Justin and try and flip him to a win-now team for some future value. Everyone wants a solid cost-controlled wing.

Brissett really looks like a diamond in the rough from what we've seen. Sumner is younger, cheaper, and has shown flashes that he can be better than Justin, though, he needs to learn to do it consistently. I'd agree with the same list pacers33granger put up.

Yeah that could be a solid option too. Aaron honestly has starter talent, but hasn't gotten a true chance to put it together. He has a chance to be a Gerald Wallace-like end of the bench pickup for an expansion team. I have no idea how other teams would see him though and may consider him a bust as a prospect.

Protected players:
Pascal Siakam - 33.0 million
Fred VanVleet - 19.7 million
OG Anunoby - 16.1 million
Chris Boucher - 7.0 million (non-guaranteed)
Malachi Flynn - 2.0 million
Deandre' Bembry - 2.0 million (non-guaranteed)
Yuta Watanabe - 1.8 million (non-guaranteed)
Gary Trent, Jr - RFA

Eligible players:
Rodney Hood - 10.8 million (non-guaranteed)
Aron Baynes - 7.4 million (non-guaranteed)
Paul Watson - 1.7 million (non-guaranteed)
Freddie Gillespie - 1.5 million (non-guaranteed)

Yuta played a lot more but Watson's upside seems higher. I think either would get selected, but I'd probably go with protecting Watson, though I think Nurse would vote with you.

Strong disagree there, I really like Watanabe's potential on defense and has shown signs of shooting as well, he's an easy one to protect to me and I'd sacrifice players like Trent's RFA status or Bembry before I would him. I had Gillespie as a harder cut than Watson.

Oh man, I missed Bembry. I'd let him go for sure over Yuta or Watson. Gillespie would be annoying but I'm not even sure we'd lose him with centers like Tillman maybe being available.

Wiz would probably protect:

Beal
Bertrans
Bryant
Hachimura
Avdija
Gafford
Anthony Gill
Caleb Homesley

Don't pick up the TO on Chandler Hutchinson (or if you do, protect him instead of Homesley)
Let them take Westbrook if they dare. He's the only other player under contract for next year.

Is there any chance the expansion teams would be allowed to pick up to draft the bird rights to an UFA

Available

1) Allen
2) Jones
3) Konchar
4) Tilman
5) Porter

Tilman seems like a easy pick for the expansion team, almost protected him over Clarke.

I'd protect the same 8 and Tillman is definitely gone ha. Unfortunate but nothing we can do about it. Maybe our team would squeeze in a consolidation trade right before in order to only have 8 guys they really want to protect.

Later on psman can make some trade offers to the Sonics to compensate them to pass on Tillman if he wants.

I can do the Knicks. Its just the expansion draft right not a full mock offseason?
Why rely on nuance, facts and logic when you can bludgeon the other side with mindless repetition of "Duuur McDaniel's has potential :tooth and still be treated as if you were reasonable.

Yea, I might do a thing mocking Seattle's FA signing, but not any of the other teams

NY Knicks:

Protected:
1. RJ Barrett
2. Mitchell Robinson
3. Immanuel Quickley
4. Julius Randle
5. Obi Toppin
6. Luca Vildoza
7. Theo Pinson
8. Frank Nitlikina

Unprotected:
1. Norvel Pelle
2. Kevin Knox

Pretty easy to make this protected list. Most of them are glaringly obvious choices. The only questionable one was the final spot. Even though in real life I think the Knicks would leave Frank N. unprotected instead of Pelle I chose to go the opposite direction. Its mainly strategic. Although a RFA, Frank N has enough upside as a perimeter defender that there is a chance he'd be picked if available. The Knicks organization seems to like Pelle but I am thinking the Sonics probably won't be all that interested in a 28 year old center who barely plays and is on his 4th team in 2 years. On the other hand Kevin Knox might be an interesting lotto ticket for them and making him available might give us the opportunity to carve out a little more cap room without having to give up anything of value.

Charlotte Hornets

Protect:
Gordon Hayward
Terry Rozier
LaMelo Ball
P.J. Washington
Miles Bridges
Devonte Graham - RFA
Jalen McDaniels
*Malik Monk - RFA

Unprotect:
*Cody Martin
Nick Richards
Vernon Carey Jr
Caleb Martin

UFA:
Brad Wanamaker
Bismack Biyombo
Cody Zeller

Hardest choice was not protecting Monk, but I am just not a fan. I would rather leave him available and if they take him, they take him.

I would certainly expose JV instead of Tillman as the former isn’t a long term asset, unlike the latter
