Feels like a tanking move to have 44m dead money next year. THJs shooting is really needed too. Not sure if u mean mavs should stretch westbrook or how brunson gets easier to retain? Personally see a stretch havong 0% chance to happen, afflicts too much dmg longterm.

But, if say luka goes down early for the season, they probably can consider doing this for a pick, then do a deal with westbrook like wall have and just sit him all season to tank to keep their pick

So Dallas subtracts their best two pure shooters from the roster coming off a season where they finished maybe as high as 4th in their conference? That feels unlikely to me.

I don't disagree that if you are only concerned about value--that Dallas probably wins there. But Dallas isn't only concerned about trade value. They want to win. And they have to always be on Luka-watch and how do you sell Luka on trading two shooters for a guy you are going to cut? I don't think you can.

And since this doesn't save Dallas money in the short term and they have about $35M ( even more if they don't guarantee Dinwiddie) worth of money that is going to fall off their books after next year anyway, it's solving a problem that doesn't really exist.

From LAL perspective, probably? Much more in love with the idea of THT plus vet min for bertans. Probably still do the original idea

They've played most of the season this year without THJ and been really good. If they get those two off the books + Dinwiddie and maybe Bullock I'm sure they can make better use of that money than THJ + Bertans.

If LAL considers anything around this, Dallas has to do it. By anything, I mean THT goes to any third team and Dallas takes on any salary that is legal. Don’t care what THT’s value is to that third team, or how much they’ll pay LAL for him.

Noel+Kemba to Dallas. Rudy Gay+JHG. Favors. Whatever.

Don’t care if it’s tied into a Westbrook to that team trade.

I’ll try

Westbrook, THT, and Dallas 2022 first to Houston
Bertans and Wall to LAL
TPE to Dallas

Houston gets their first for Wall. LAL gets Wall and a shooter some what.

Not as a final trade, but seems like it would work for everyone.

Dallas either takes the huge tax savings or can look to add a fourth team and aggregate some other money to take back Horford or someone else usual. Or just hold onto the TPE for Jonas or such..

But Bertans, Powell, 2022 first for Horford doesn’t save Dallas money in year one but does make them a much better team for a year while they wait out the NYK owed first. And Boston should strongly consider Horford for Powell as a way to avoid the tax..

I mean Dallas has less than zero use for Kemba at this point, but obviously Dallas would have to do this deal to get off the Bertans future money. They love THJ, but I think Fournier is probably a small upgrade as well. I think Dallas owes some value to the Lakers or they get cut out.

The Knicks have no reason to trade Rose & Fournier for Westbrook. If they need the cap space 23/24 that when they
should move Fournier as a expiring deal.

DAL takes this and run, not sure if LAL is willing to take on so much long term salary or not.

I dont think mavs takes that and run tbh. Atleast i hooe not. Kemba is 10m in the stands, rather actually pay 6m more for beratns to atleast contribute. But guess availability is only most important when discussing KP

Why not Robinson for Bertans + 2 seconds or something like that.. I think the Heat could use a big guy who can spread out the floor... they're owed about as much money (Duncan a little more). Or..

Bertans/Maxi(TPE) for JHarris/Sharpe..

Mavs gets an elite shooter on the wing that we've been missing since Seth left and a raw Center but with a skill set that would fit nicely with what we're doing.

Nets have a ton of shots on guards and small forwards..Irving/Mills/Curry/Thomas..add 2 frontcourt floor spacers and Maxi's good combined defense

The Bulls could almost live with the money he's due but not for 2 more years, one year at $16M or 2 years at maybe $9M. Setting aside the fact that Mavs fans want to dump him, if he could shoot at a reasonable level, he could come off the bench next to Vucevic or even pair up front with Patrick Williams in a small ball lineup. But at what he's owed they can find somebody for a lot less money a year at a time.
