Fears or johnson I guess for more star upside.. not really enamored with either personally but was curious what it would cost. Prefer having a 2nd 1st to draft a backup big if se are drafting a guard

Fears is a high cieling low floor kinda guy, I can see him becoming a star amd I can see him ised as a salary filler in year 3, he's the only really interesting guy to me...
I suspected you'd say Maluach, in which case I would've said don't bother.
This draft was so hyped, after #2, looks same level 24 draft...

AD asked for a trade and the insane package they got was squandered on nothings, Zion was a complete failure.
NOP got the best 2 prospects since LeBron/KD and both backfired, what a sad story...

I don't think he makes sense as a target. Bucks would target Ant ina Giannis trade.

Is there a sensible deal between Dallas and Detroit where AD goes to Motown, Ivey/Tobias/picks go to the Mavs?

Its Masai's last year of contract so i wont be surprised if he takes a risk to trade up... Can the pick be protected a little? Is this too much vs too little?

If Masai believes he is gone after this coming year, he won't be taking a risk to trade up in the draft to 5/6.

He will be going after a win now star to show teams adding Kawhi wasn't a fluke.

Good News for Timberwolves fans. Looks like they want a new stadium and will be using the extra money they have received from 3rd party investors to foot the tax bill another season.

Often. 12 teams last year send some kind of cash in trades.

Yeah. It’s most often used to fulfill “touch requirements” between teams (I.e., you HAVE to send something back in trades). It’s rarely used as the entirety of value of a trade though. Plus, sending cash in a trade hard caps a team at the 2nd apron for the summer and the following season, so a lot of spending teams won’t use it to keep their flexibility and options open.

Sensible to Dallas’ front office? Probably not. But I think Cade is ready for that type of move and Thompson/Holland would develop nicely in the playoffs. I don’t think Det fans have liked it though.

But for Dallas in a world where Nico isn’t around? I think Ivey has the upside and Dallas gets younger like they should be.

Nico or no Nico, unles that's a bevy of picks, thats just not a good deal. Ivey was an underwhelming prospect before his injury, and who knows if he'll return 100% from it. I think Dallas should trade AD, try to get Kyrie on a cheap-ish deal (around 40mill/year), extend PJ/Gaff, tank this season, develop the young guys and decide what they wanna do moving forward. But i wouldnt trade AD if the biggest piece coming back was Ivey

Yeah agree with mademan. Now I haven't spent time thinking about AD trades because I'm convinced they won't trade the centerpiece of the Luka trade no matter how much sense it might make. But I can't see Ivey being a particularly interesting return since he's so unproven and has to get paid. If I'm trading AD I want more flexibility than that. Or something more proven.

Another value question...

Maxi and Knecht for Thybulle (opt in and extend w/LAL)

I know jroy will politely decline, but is it fair?

It's an overpay by LA. First off, nobody should want to extend him off that number. He's probably a min contract guy moving forward. He and Kleber are basically a wash. Both good defenders who offer nothing offensively--a bigger issue for a wing though--and who both miss a ton of games. So this is just a gift of Knecht and then making a bad contract decision.

Yeah, Ivey shouldn't have the kind of value of a centrepiece in and Ad trade. Even Detroit fans who've watched every game of his NBA career struggle to agree on what his value is or will be, and 3 years into his career the gap between his floor (bouncing around on min contracts) and ceiling (all star) is immense.

I'll be surprised if Ivey moves this summer because DET would be selling low on a guy who has flashed some really intriguing potential and fit next to Cade. Keeping Ivey for his 4th year is a low risk, high potential option, and that's what I expect DET to do.

Anyone else feeling this draft is super lackluster after the top 2? Coop is a great number one pick, Harper average solid #2 pick guy... After that everything is kind of bleh to me. Hate Ace Bailey and VJ feels like what would normally be a top 8 or so guy not top 4

Agreed to an extent, although in that next tier of VJ, Ace, Tre I believe one of them could eventually blossom into a star. Just don't ask me which one... We usually get someone from that next tier that will pop at the next level.

I don't know enough about any of these players....I also know that almost every single year I feel worse about literally every prospect than most. I mean since AD the only prospect I really loved was Luka. I would have missed guys like Tatum or Edwards or SGA.

But it doesn't matter, we already have posters talking about how great drafts 3 years away are(as if we could have any real idea lol). The next draft is always hyped the current one always gets worse and worse because the closer it gets the more we examine and the more flaws we find. Years out they are just dominating non-D1 kids in high school on sheer talent and we have no idea how it will translate. (Flagg maybe an exception as he's been on the radar for years and continues to prove it at every level).
