well if that's a thing for him then that's a thing for him, and it clearly is for many athletes. but do you know for sure he'd automatically reject an offer that starts at only 2m annually under the max? or that not being the highest paid guy on the team would cause issues for him?

as i said before, if he finds value in the situation, he might find it to be worth it. and not being able to offer the max is clearly suboptimal but i don't see that as a bad pitch in itself given the rest.

I wouldn't say its definitely a thing, but in general when you're pitching someon on a job, the pitch shouldn't involve it. If he's willing great, but you don't want to ask.

I mean, that's a sensationalistic headline designed to get all 'lulz clippers' clicks, I'm sure Doc and Ballmer are not gonna sit there and their first phrase is you need to take a paycut if you wanna come here.

Obviously for many reasons, the Clippers should not be the most attractive choice for him, but with what they have to offer, it's logical that their best pitch is playing with 3 other all-NBA players whose game fits really well with him, even if he has to take a $2M paycut, rather than getting your max and playing on a considerably worse team.

If you think that's not enough to convince him, I fully agree with you, but that's the best they can do with their situation and that's absolutely the way they have to pitch it first. I don't doubt they'd let him pick if he wants one of the big 3 traded or not.

He knows all the options already anyway, it's not like he hasn't gone through the situation with his agent and it's gonna be a surprise for him.

Agree its not the first thing they're bringing up, and actually good point on the headline.

Parsons would really change the dynamics of the Grizzlies. Get Conley back and Gasol healthy and that becomes a scary team. His shooting and ability to create from the wing makes that offense much more difficult to defend.

ESPN's Calvin Watkins reporting that Houston *did* offer a QO to Donatas Motiejunas (thereby making him RFA), but *did not* offer the QO to Terrence Jones (making Jones UFA).

Presti wants a second meeting.

Guessing to update him on other FA plans (Horford?).

EDIT: Aahhhhh, that makes sense.

These are both guys I'd like Dallas to kick the tires on once Whiteside and Conley tell us no.

FWIW:

This would necessitate him taking a significant paycut, and the rest of the roster would be trash.

Here's hoping KD trolls the Clippers by telling them he's in then signing with the Thunder.

Does anybody else get the irony that if NYK sign Noah, that in essence, Melo should've just signed with the Bulls 2 years ago and have the better team with Taj/Butler/MDJ/Miroric in tow? lol.

On paper, I think it'll be a good signing but basketball wise, ooeeeuufff, NYK should look into investing in poaching PHO training staff cuz out of Rose/Melo/Noah, I think DNP's gonna get racked up in the boxscore.
Come at the king, you best not miss...

The pay cut is 7 million over 4 years. Don't think its out of touch to present KD the option of taking a discount to play with an extra star or getting the full max and Jordan or Griffin getting shipped out.

With no bench, no margin for error, and the clipper org has been a **** show since this big three and their insane former owner all got together there. I mean, in order to do this, they would have to renounce the rights to their late first round pick, think about that. What is that contract slotted at, 1.5M? It's nuts.

Its the same path the Heat took with James, Bosh , Wade. Fill the roster with ring chasing vets.
