On Twitter smitty is speculating that Boston is a sleeper choice for Horford and it would be S&T mayhem. If it works out, I really like it. Even if it means losing a pick or two.

How did Ainge "play everyone" if Horford ends up back in Boston? What was the payoff of this supposed grand scheme?

Seems more like Boston was going to rebuild with Kyrie leaving and thus didn't want Horford at his asking price, then changed course when Kemba left Charlotte for Boston and decided they would meet Horford's ask afterall.

I can buy Horford staying in Boston if they can figure out a way to make it happen cap wise. Why shouldn't the Celtics go for it with Kemba, Hayward and Horford? I think Ainge would be playing himself if he's scared to go 4 years 100 mil+ here

If C's open up the full MLE, is there any shot at Favors? I'm not sure what his market will look like.

I mean, I think the play is Looney for 4/39.5M or whatever the MLE is fully.

But Favors would be a nice alternative because that probably isn't enough to get Looney.

That fourth year for that Horford deal is going to be ugly, but I'm loving it if Ainge is managing to bring him back to pair with Kemba AND getting the MLE for only a first (assuming it's the Celtics or the Milwaukee 2020).

Derrick Favors would be a great fit for that MLE spot in my opinion if he becomes available with the Jazz landing Bojan.

I think it makes it more likely they play ball.

Gives them a free asset to improve their team even when capped out.
