WAS/PHI Washington gets 1st 2 picks!

Post#1 » by JayCarlock » Thu Jun 3, 2010 8:41 pm

Philadelphia receives:
Gilbert Arenas
Nick Young
30th Pick (CLE)
Future 1st rd pick

Washington receives:
Elton Brand
Willie Green
#2 Pick

Washington completely rebuilds with the 2 best players in the draft. Fill a need with a veteran in E.Brand, and move forward without Gilbert Arenas.

Philadelphia is no stranger with taking players with background problems. They would get IMO good value for the pick as well as freeing themselves of E.B.'s contract. Yes they take back a bigger one in Arenas, but it fits a need of what they want to do going forward. Plus Nick Young is a very decent player who van play both the 2 & 3.

I do believe Arenas has to eventually go...but right now he probably has one of the lowest trade values in the league...perhaps not as low as Brand...but still low.

The difference between the two is certainly not the 2nd pick of the draft nor can any sweetners above make up the difference.

So bad that I questioned my eyes/comprehension after looking over it 3 times. After each time I thought "I'm missing something here, right?"

I think you're missing the part where McGee and Blathce are added, and Arenas is taken out and replaced with a massive TPE.

Then it turns into:

Blatche
McGee
Young
#30
Future #1
Massive TPE

for

Brand
#2

^^^Yea that wouldn't happen, just like the deal above.

I seriously do not believe the #2 is up for sale in any way, shape, or form.

Heh, they get two picks, one the last pick of the first round, one likely to be close to it, and all they surrender is the second overall pick? How can Philly resist!

More years, more money, more character issues & more of a decline in his skill set. How could his value not be lower than Brand's?

Washington would be lucky to get expiring contracts for Arenas and you think he's going to bring in the #2 pick in the draft

I just don't see us being interested in buying the number two pick even if it is available to buy (which I doubt). I know we'd have to give up McGee, a huge TPE, probably a future pick and worst of all- absorb Brand. Evan Turner would probably be a terrible fit next to John Wall so you have to ask is Favors, Wes Johnson, or Demarcus Cousins worth giving all that up? I don't think so...

As for the original deal- oh heck yes, but I know Philly vomits.

I don't even like the Sixers and they get hosed here. (So I hope they do it :p)

Counter Offer:

Brand
Green
Young
2011 1st

for

Arenas
John Wall

Washington GETS RID OF the player with background problems. They would get IMO good value for the pick as well as freeing themselves of Gil's contract. Yes they take back a big one in Brand, but it fits a need of what they want to do going forward. Plus Thad Young is a very decent player who van play both the 3 & 4.

Wanna throw up? Thats how we feel.

It should be noted that I don't think the OP is a Wizards fan and we, as a group, are not so delusional as to propose anything like this.

He's a rogue trader or sump'in.

 come on now, are you kidding?!? arenas has THE WORST contract in the league. add in the fact that he's a head case, and he is completely unmovable. however, i will take him off your hands for brand and turner...

Mostly true but Brand's skillset has slipped to "utility backup" Arenas' skillset is....oh yeah....he's played almost never in a few yr but briefly seemed to have a lot of his usual stuff.

Philly fans want either a) Draft Turner
b) get double value for Turner and hope nobody notices Brand attached too.

sort of narrows the options.
