PHI/MIL T. Young join BJ

Post#1 » by eitanr » Thu Jun 17, 2010 8:22 pm

Thad Young, Lou Williams and Jason Smith
FOR
Dan Gadzuric, Darnell Jackson, 15th and 37th picks

Why for Milwuakee:
Bucks get a guy in Young who can be a very effective atheletic 3 for them and can even play the PF for them alongside Bogut. Lou Will would allow the Bucks to let Ridnour walk and add bench scoring.
PF T. Young/ E. Ilyosova
SF J. Salmons/ LRMAM/
C A. Bogut/ J. Smith
SG C. Delfino/ M. Redd/ C. Bell
PG B. Jennings/ L. Williams

Why for Philly:
Sixers get some extra cap savings in 2011 and can add to their young core with a backup athletic center at 15 (Orton or Whiteside) and a backup PG at 37 (G. Vazquez).
PF M. Speights/ E. Brand/ D. Jackson
SF E. Turner/ A. Noccioni
C S. Hawes/ H. Whiteside/ D. Gadzuric
SG A. Igoudala/ W. Green/ J. Kapono
PG J. Holiday/ G/ Vazquez

I think it makes more sense without the Williams/Gadzuric swap

I think the Bucks would prefer to keep their pick.

There should be some good wings (Henry, George, James, Anderson, Hayward) and bigs (Patterson, Udoh, Davis, Sanders, Aldrich) available there. One of those players locked into a rookie scale might be more appealing than Thad.

I squandered an asset? Then Hammond taught me well.

This.

It's really just Thad for 15, very fair. Smith for 37, so-so fair I guess.
DJax is n-g at min sal. Zero value either way.

And then Gadz for Lou... Sixers raped.

I see the logic, but I'd prefer to keep Thad.

We're talking about a 21 year old who had a bad year on a terrible teams and still averaged 14 points on 47% shooting.

I don't need to give him away.

I would do this deal in a second and worry about addressing the PF position through trade/FA. Louis Williams could be a long term 6th man and I like Young as a running mate for BJ. I think we make out pretty well here.

Young will be 22 years old in a few days. And if the Sixers take Turner at 2 they might like a PF on the board at 15. Patterson or Udoh could be more valuable to Philly than Young. I think Philly should keep Young and trade Iggy now while his value his high. By the time the Sixers get good in 3 or more years-and it will take that long strapped with Brand's contract, Iggy won't have the same value. Now that you have Hawes and a new coach who will be given some time it makes even more sense to deal Iggy and pick high in the lottery again next year.

I certainly wouldn't be dancing in the streets or bestowing a bunch of praise on Hammond though.

I would definitely trade Young for Udoh, but there's no way he'll be there at 15.

I'd give 15 for Young if George wasn't there, possibly add in 37. That is a good player stuck in a **** situation in Philly, I'd love him on the Bucks.

If Al-Farouq Aminu is considered a top 10 pick in the draft, Young is easily worth the 15th.

Yeah I think I'd probably do this from the Bucks POV, though at his salary I'd rather leave the WIlliams/Gadz swap off and just re-sign Ridnour instead.
