Tweaking the Hinrich Deal... With DET, ORL

Post#1 » by RTM » Sat Jun 26, 2010 1:45 am

Since the deal can't go through until the 8th, and it can be changed, how about this tweak...

CHI Sends: Hinrich, Rights to Seraphin, Cash
CHI Gets: 2011 Washington 2nd (Top 55 Protected), TPE

Chicago gets cap space.

Rose / FA
FA / FA
Deng / Johnson
Gibson / FA
Noah / Miller (resigned)

DET Sends: Prince, Hamilton
DET Gets: Hinrich, Pietrus

Detroit gets a defensive PG to put next to Stuckey and Gordon, and a shooter/defender who expires.

Stuckey / Hinrich
Gordon / White
Pietrus / Daye / Summers
Jerebko / Villanueva / Wilcox
Monroe / Maxiell / Wallace (resigned)

ORL Sends: Carter, Pietrus
ORL Gets: Hamilton, Pietrus

Orlando upgrades their 2/3 with championship pedigree veterans.

Nelson / FA
Hamilton / Redick (resigned)
Prince / Barnes (resigned) / Robinson
Lewis / Bass
Howard / Gortat / Orton

WAS Sends: 2011 2nd (Top 55 Protected)
WAS Gets: Carter, Rights to Seraphin, Cash

Washington commits the same amount of salary as they do with Hinrich, only during a shorter period of time (Carter has a 5 million dollar buyout option before 2011-2012). Carter (a rumored target) gives Wall another offensive weapon.

Wall / Livingston (resigned)
Arenas / Young
Carter / Thornton
Blatche / Booker
McGee / Seraphin / N'diaye

Thoughts?

I like hinrich but not at the cost of prince. i wouldn't do that. we need to look for a big man to put next to greg monroe. that should be a priority this offseason.

It sucks for Washington.

As it stands now, the Wizards could turn around and trade Hinrich to the Lakers for expiring contracts (Vujacic and Brown) and maybe even get LA to throw in $3M cash to buy out Vujacic. That turns a $17M salary obligation over two years into a $7.5M salary obligation for one year. Factor the cash and it's just $4.5M. The Wizards would much rather do that than pay Vince Carter $18M this year plus another $4M to buy him out next year.

I'd rather a trade of Rip for Gortat and Pietrus if orlando can move VC separately. Prince is too high a price to get Hinrich and Pietrus.
Swap Peitrus for Gortat and we'd be onto something.
