Simple trade.

HOU out: Brooks/Hill/Jeffries/NYK 1st.
HOU in: Nash/Hill

PHX out: Nash/Hill
PHX in: Brooks/Hill/Jeffries/NYK 1st.

Suns could also add in Earl Clark if HOU wants.

Why for HOU: The Rockets go into Win now mode seeing that their window with Yao is starting to close. They get the playmaking PG that they have lacked for years and a good veteran SF that can mentor the youngin's. HOU rolls out a starting 5 of Nash/Martian/Hill/Scola/Yao.

Why for PHX: Realizing that Nash on the current Suns team will end up in the lottery, fill a need in PF with Hill. They get an uptempo PG in Brooks that doesnt always need the ball, thus utilizing Turk to his full capacity. Jeffires is used as an expiring next year, and the Knicks 1st round pick lessens the blow of having a Nash-less Suns team. Instead of Suns owner Sarver milking fans money over the Nash name, he can start milking them of their hard earned cash over having local Arizona Wildcat Jordan Hill.

HOU:
Nash/Lowry/Smith
Martian/Lee/Taylor
Hill/Battier/Budinger
Scola/Patterson/Hayes
Yao/Miller/Hayes

PHX:
Brooks/Dragic
Jrich/Dudley
Turk/Childress/Jeffries
Hill/Warrick/Lawal
Frye/Lopez/Siler.

We aren't going to give you extra incentives for a 38 year old Hill.

I'd probably pass as Houston, though I don't know.
My viewpoint has been that Houston's going after two objectives at the same time - basically, in the last year of his deal, gambling on Yao one final time, and seeing if it produces or not. And the thing is, they're in a decent position for a rebuild if it fails, which it currently is, thanks to a lot of expiring deals, no really bad long-term deals (Lowry's young, and Scola and Martin are the only ones on this team pulling their weight), and potential high picks, whether New York's or our own.
Getting Nash for that would to some degree eliminate the rebuilding possibility and put all the chips in the win now option, and given how crappy we are right now, I don't know if I would bet on that. If we were doing better, I would say yes.

I have no idea why HOU would pass that up. Did you look at the HOU lineup? It has offense, defense and experience. And they would be DEEP!. I see this as a PHX giveaway, but as a PHX fan I would consider it.

Because our hole might be too deep to climb out of at this point, so going all in is rather pointless.
Looks like we are closer to rebuilding than selling off youth to extend a window.

At 3-10 the Rockets need a whole lot more than an aging Nash to be a contender. I think they will decide to let this season play out, hold on to their assets (young players and picks), and let their expiring contracts run out.

Houston says "no thank you but lets talk again on Friday".

***edit*** I am a huge Rox fan and an equally huge Steve Nash fan. (No homer.) But a silly deal is still a silly deal.
